New wheels for GF's glow-in-the-dark medium Pomp:
Tensile LF hubs
Sapim Race spokes
Exal LX17 rims
Schwalbe 14mm plastic rim stripsI'll find out what I chose wrong once I've put them all together...
Will be running Vittoria Randos until I find some CX tyres at a price I like.

What mechanisms do people rate for chain tension on a vert'drop frame?
My BB is standard 68mm.Has anyone used one of these for cross?
If you are going to run hollowtech2 cranks i got a forward components eccentric bb that fits regular 68mm bbs. Gives you about a link of tensioning according to the instructions. I used it on an ss setup, i wouldent ride it fixed without brakes. They were unfortunately spendy but if you like me think that a "clean" solution is a priority than perhaps its worth it.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of those. I have looked at the Philcentric, but it requires a tool I'm pretty sure nobody in the UK has!
I may keep it very simple (and cheap) with an unsprung roller tensioner. Experiment with that and perhaps try a melvin if it's hopeless.
I'd like to keep using a cassette (rather than a WI Eno) rear hub.

Oh sorry. I thought it said it was ok for 68mm

It's for a 68mm thing going into a BB30 sized thing.

Cheers. I have considered those. I do want to use a cassette hub. Phil is (of course) expensive and requires an unobtainable tool.
I may go with a Yess tensioner (they're getting back to me on chainline - I want to run 42mm). Or this. These 2 spring tensioners might be the way forward.

Yeah, they come painted black and that will last pretty much one wet ride.

^ S'nice. Can't help but feel that caliper mount is going to be a world of pain though.

Not feeling the 1 1/8. Upgrades available: chinafork, wound up, some future richey full crabon.

Not the best thought out rear fender mounts on that Disc Boy ^ The rotor is in the way, no?

I did, and that's why I ask, surely it would be the easiest/best solution? why a cassette over a freewheel?
