I'd be up for one, I think this ride is really popular, just needs a bit of a route!
-
• #278
Yeah, do it. John hasn't been on the forum for about a year anyways so can't imagine him having any probs with that.
I'd certainly be up for a Ldn Lights ride - as long as I can get back riding again! -

Might be better to go by bike, not plane?

wxcellent!

Yep, @spotter is right, @Ecunard and I are planning on organising this... and this is a good reminder, so i'll get a suggested date put up in the next couple days (it'll be on a Saturday evening).
I wanted to organise it as absolutely loved the one Dropout led in 2012, so was hoping to do something similar (without stepping on anyones toes!)
If people have old routes, or places they think would be good to put in the route then let me know!

2012 was the one where we met again at LMNH after East (where we slipped on the decking) and ended in freezing Primrose Hill?
-
• #284
We started at LMNH yeah, but can't remember where we ended - I thought it was more Maida Vale area...

excellent, I am excite.

I think that was the year before. Both featured dinner at John's fav Thai restaurant which is not Maida Vale but near enough that you could be excused.

You are right of course. And how could I forget about the diner?

Last time I did this ride I'd landed back from Asia that morning, the ride was definitely a warm up to festivities and a super sociable ride. Hope this happens....

I love lights and riding under them but am free from 11pm, so if you're all still out being lit up and getting festive somewhere, I'll catch everyone after. Or maybe zoom through the route proper fast before I join up so that I'm ont same page?! (@pops and @Ecunard please make a fast route option haha ;) )
-
• #295
ooo, I hope this happens with I'm around.
-
• #296
^^ of course back in the day it did start at 11pm on a mid-week night. BTH I rather like the late-night-mid-week thing, makes it all the more different

So, @Ecunard and I have been planning this ride, and have been scouring London for the best christmas lights around, and I have finally got around to drawing up a route (which I need to recce again before publishing).
We are proposing to do the ride on Saturday 6th December, starting at Look Mum at 7pm.
Hopefully people are still keen to come along for the ride. It will be just short of 20 miles, and I expect it to take around 3 hours including stops. There will be a few rest breaks inc. toilet stop along the way, and ending at Trafalgar Square, and then retiring to a pub.
I will be putting an event thread together on the weekend, but thought I'd let everyone know of the proposed date asap as I know it's not long away!
It should be a nice chilled fun ride to soak up all the pretty lights of London. :)
@KT_Bee I remember your mince pies being particularly awesome (I seem to remember some special ingredient like lemon curd with the mincemeat?!)
@Ethel I can send you the route if you want to catch us up, although I expect we'll be finished around 10pm, but you could always do it super quick and meet us at the pub :)Hope everyone can make it!

Gah, going oop north to Lincoln next weekend so I can't make it. Gutted. Awesome work on organising this, bet it'll be ace.
-
• #299
Ah, shame, I can't make that evening, either. Not too much choice of evenings in December--have a great ride!

Maybe we should ask @user48330
