Fit the rack over your top-tube, and then hug the panniers between your guns while you grip the handlebars.
-
• #3
You'll still crash though, I imagine.
-
• #4
Ill hug you between my guns
I know where youre going to be this weekend!

are they the locking type? or the 'hang on in there' type?
I have some locking ones and after about 6 months of struggling realised that there was a spacer in the base of the 'hook' which can be poked out to make them deeper. wac. work great now.
If not that. tiny bungees or cable ties.....

Its the hang on there type so when i hop skid or hit a bump they tend to unhook. Thankfully only one so far.

~Damo, no - these are deuter
I was thinking of getting Ortlieb replacement parts and replacing the hooks on the Deuters.
-
• #17
Mine unclipped once, and a bus stopped to let me get them again. There's that little "closey" thing you have to do.
Ah ok. Never used deuter.
-
• #18
Do you slide the horizontal hook on first, and then do the clippy thing?
-
• #19
there isnt a horizontal hook, just those hooks attached by elastic cord which got stuck in the spokes and ripped off. silly little hooks
-
• #20
Ah. I think you need the horizontal hook (near the base of the pain ear) that hooks onto one of the vertical struts of the pain ear rack.
It's like two blind men feeling their way around a kangaroo in here. Isn't it?

"Does he take sugar in his tea?"
-
• #22
hahaha
If i manage to source the bottom hooks, do they face forward or backwards?
-
• #23
They face away from your bum.
-
• #24
It might be easier to buy new pain ears.
-
• #25
probably, but then where is the fun at attempting something hands on.
Plus the cost is inhibitive.
Hi
I recently bought a set of panniers of the Forum. Lovely bags that perform well.
The only issue that i have found it that the mech that clips the bags to the pannier is not the most effective and often i find that either one or both bags are hanging by one hook.
I was wondering if people found solutions to this problem?
I guess ultimately the best would be to use the system that ortlieb use but i thought i would check to see if anyone has come up with any other solutions.
One day, one of the bags will pop off both hooks and as its clipped together by a loose cord, the bag is going to throw the bike out and i will crash.
