Gabes, that sounds lovely. Can we come now?

As for a training ride, I suggest we ride from London down to my place, it's about 190 miles on nice quiet roads from Richmond to my house (east Devon). We could possibly camp in the new forest, and if needs be camp somewhere in dorset the next day, or push it and do it in 2 days.
Upon arriving here, we can have bonfire beer and pizza in my new wood-fired oven, camp in the garden/field then train back the next day for you londoners.
Ideal. We should aim to do this on the first Bank Holiday in May. That'll give plenty of time to remedy any kit problems etc.

Def in. I've done this ride a couple of times and it's a really nice ride on it's own, and, by my standards, is quite hilly (that is, once you're out of the home counties).

What's the deal with lids? Is there a law? I'd like to bring one, but I don't own one, so, unless there's a law, it's not guaranteed.

You won't want a helmet, but, last time I looked, it's still legal to ride in France without one.

I drove up Mont Ventoux in Fall 2008. It was really hard, i had to keep pushing on the gas pedal the whole time.
No but seriously this trip looks totally amazing. Thinking about it.
