but think paying my existing debts off should come first.
I'm in a different situation. I have future debts, which could be minimised by 'investment'. What's required DK?

The investment opportunity has passed, we're in due diligence and the round was oversubscribed.
What we need now isn't something that gives a monetary return, it's patronage... donations. We threw up a basic page here to process it: http://signup.microcosm.app/ but the essence is that we'll reserve a username on every site that ever runs on Microcosm in return for your help whilst we get through the next month or two whilst the due diligence and then clearing of the investment funds happens.
Dull stuff, and less rewarding than owning shares no doubt. But we always knew that only a minority had the ability and will to invest, and we actually started with the hope of many people giving a little rather than us having to seek investment. Investment turns out to be preferred, so we only need to raise 2 months cash flow via donations/patronage to cover the immediate costs whilst we do the legal process and get to having the investment in the bank and then can concentrate on what we should be doing.

On an entirely different topic, the investor I was hoping would be the anchor in our Series A is in the news:
http://techcrunch.com/2012/11/30/high-profile-uk-vc-stefan-glaenzer-faces-jail-after-sexual-assault-conviction/@CourtNewsUK is reporting a suspended sentace on a case that sounds very much like this one...

But what would you be called then Clever Pun?
Not so clever now are you!
Unlike you to miss the point now is it???
The functionality to reserve a name will need to be written first and this will then need a lookup that's when the names are needed... not right at the start of the process. Of course the list can be taken at anytime but it's not important right now.
it's a minor detail albeit a nice one for investors using the software

Almost at the end of the due diligence now.
I have created an insane amount of paperwork and it's doing my head in because I'd have much rather have spent the last 2 weeks coding rather than learning about corporate registers, option pools, IP assignments, resolutions, etc.
Once submitted (Monday, once all signed) it will clear the way for the terms to be signed and the funds to be released.
I cannot wait... not least because it's very hard to have a company pay it's costs when it has no revenue.

Patron'd.
-
• #1168
Also patron'd. Twice though because there were no matching amounts for my current financial status. I probably will again at some point too - do I need to pick the same name?
-
• #1169
You'd only get one reserved name, by technical necessity more than anything... when you put in your email address in the future we will simply offer you the first name that was reserved by it.

There's £30 of my christmas money on its way. Don't spend it all on wanky coffee!
-
• #1171
Ok cool. I presume I won't be obliged to actually use the name if I don't want to on a particular sub-forum though?

Now you've made the use-cases more complex, that'll be another £50k fundraiser.

Where's the patronage link? have some christmas money to throw at you

cheers, done.
I pledged to be a patron, but then invested. If I had spare cash I'd happily patronise as well, but think paying my existing debts off should come first.
