  • I'll say yes for now!

  • Im in Lincs with my Kids next week. Maybe the following week x

  • In for 8

  • I'll be there

  • Going to try and make it for a change.

  • It's this week Mark, today in fact! I'll be there at 8ish

  • I don't know what anyone other than thross looks like....

  • And I'm not going!

  • More beers! When beers? Ride and beers? Mash Tun beers?

  • Lets ride to the pelican?

    http://the-pelican-inn.co.uk/

  • Pelican looks wack, even if it is "Norfolk's best kept secret". Mash gets my vote. Could do a loop out of town then back in so we finish nice and central?

  • would be nice to go to a pub thats outside of the city so we have a destination! (and a fun ride back after a few)

  • Ah I still vote Mash - its almost certainly a much finer selection of beers, and we'll all feel really cool going to the new 'hip' pub on our super rad track bikes.

  • @prevailrob and I were talking about going there as we both like gin.

    #potkettle :)

  • I will shamelessly admit that I'm just in it for the beers

  • I was thinking more about the super rad track bikes bit.....

  • You mean the sarcasm didn't come across in Microcosm? Must inform Velocio...

  • our super rad track bikes that apparently nobody wants to ride anywhere!

  • So, this Pelican pub looks to be about 15 miles away (from my postcode anyway), so lets call it a 20 mile there / 20 mile back ride. I'm happy to draw up a traffic free route.

    Who's in and when?

The earliest I can make a ride is 6:30PM (realistically 7PM) so bearing in mind nights are starting to draw in a bit, I'd suggest lights.

  • Oh, and if anyone wants a regular training ride, fixed or otherwise, I can do Friday nights. I have a little rotation of loops, between 20 and 35 miles. Mostly light traffic. Between 19 and 20 mph avg, depending on wind conditions :-) I tend to leave my house at 18:30 and aim to get back for 20:30 when I do these and tend to do them solo, so anyone is welcome to come along. If we turn into a big group I will be insistent on conscious riding , two abreast max and single file when on 'main' roads. Calling out obstacles and your usual group riding etiquette etc

  • ^ I'll also add that I'm riding gears at the moment. Hip Fixeh is in need of overhaul

  • Totally up for more rides Rob, but I think a 40 mile round trip at 20mph average is probably a little ambitious for a casual beer ride to begin with. Apparently there was a really good turn out last week, and I think we should capitalise on that by making beers more straightforward so we get regular numbers, and we can then gauge interest for longer rides once we're more of a group.

That's not to say we shouldn't do a little blast around the city before/after, I just think some people won't be up for donning lycra for several hours and could/would be put off by group riding etiquette if it's foreign to them.

    Just my two pennies.

Plus I really like the Mash Tun, and this Pelican place only seems to have four ales on tap, and judging by the picture are probably just Woodfordes/Adnams - Beers warrant exotic beers!
