ah cool, what ratio are you running on the leader?
-
• #128
30x13 I think... Around 65gi.
-
• #129
same gi as me, except i'm 44x19

• #130
Pegs?

• #131
The build begins...

• #132
Bike building gloves? Gotta get me some of them!
-
• #133
They're bondage gloves first, they just double up handily. That's how spotter put it anyway.

I'd clean them up before continuing that build if I were you :-s

• #135
I did something similar today with a big block of wood and a hammer....
-
• #136
^ Did you wear bondage gloves though?
-
• #137
been working on my monster pomp

tbc.... -

Headset and forks installed (Haven't cut the steerer yet though) as well as the BB. I'd forgotten how brutal you have to be with BMX stuff sometimes. Way too much use of hammers for my liking, i'm not going to install the cranks and spider until I finish the wheels so i can check the chain line and work out the spacers.

I can't wait for this to be done.

• #140
Curtain rethink required.

^ if we had the money I totally would.
in the mean time...

I have a massive tyred city monster truck bike beast planned for an old "all terrain bike" frame. Needs Wheels and shit that cost monies I don't has right now. Pooooop!
But when it's done can I
crush you all beneath my Massive Tyres of Deathcome on the bruiser bike ride..?BTW, can you buy replacement crown race seals anywhere? (I lost it) Or am I stuck with buying a whole new headset?
-
• #143
I've been browsing the SSCX thread a bit too much, and have has some naughty ideas re the future of my bruiser...
-
• #144
Mid BB, new seatpost and headset ordered....
Going to try these forks I got laying around...
Hoping they gonna look better on (doubt it though), will give me a chance to try fixed CX type lark.... If the bits come quick could be out sliding around the woods by Wednesday... and then if I enjoy it, will try find some nicer forks.
I've got that sinking feeling like I'm building an ugly bike, and there's nothing I can do to stop it....
-
• #145
you could just do the same as me, and then cx fun is but a tyre change away. I'll probably get semi slicks for the snow (if i comes this year)
-
• #146
I've kind of ballsed up with my wheel and chainset choices.... Not disc compatible hubs, ugly cranks, and tiny chainwheel...
As it is, I'm bodging it together on the cheap. If I like the way it rides, then I'll upgrade the forks, stick on the BB7 I got spare and maybe share the front wheel from the Boardman...
-
• #147
I think this might just work...
Should I try a silver metallic to black fade, front to back... that is the question...
-
• #148
Yes is always the answer to 'fade or not fade'.
If it looks shit, just respray it black
-
• #149
I'm all for fades

great thread, great build(s). good work.
Got a deal on the wheels and cranks... Are the white cranks that bad? Might paint them... Wheels are nothing special, formula hubs on some sort of alex rim (thought I was buying something more FMX specific...). Apparently have held up to some abuse though.
The Sigma is a work in progress build to sell. Had a bike worth of Italian bits lying about, so picked up the sigma frame and time fork to chuck them on.
