Nice! Would be nicer with the smooth welds though I reckon! What's the biggest tyres people have been able to fit in their Mielecs?
-
• #4208
I cant really imagine why not getting smoothed welds if it is still 20 euros extra.

Lol, my £95 Mashski was just called "the most sensible fixed gear bike I've ever seen" by the dude who runs Popup Bikes (cafe, bikepark, workshop and venue near Manchester Victoria
Tektro brake hoods, cane creek crosstops, SRAM Apex front caliper and Crud Roadracer IIs. Fitting a matching rear as soon as I get a support block machined to surround the rear bridge.
He was genuinely wide-eyed when I said "£95".

Yeah, Dip hates fixed gear and lycra.
Despite the fact he's a dirty fucking hipster.

Just seen this thread, I am looking at buying a Cinelli Mash frame but have heard good things about Mielec frames on other parts of the forums. Reading through some of this thread there seems to be mixed reviews.
Price wise its great so not an issue. Looks like geo is a carbon of the Mash so should be able to size.
What is the quality of the frame like? Any issues at all? How heavy are they? How would they compare against a Mash?

Anyone in London got a big Mielec frame in a real nice colour for sale?

Well, have another read I'd say.
Quality, not pretty but solid.
It's an aluminium frame so around 1700g is the ballpark.
How would they compare against a mash in what context? -

Ride, build quality,
Anything to be wary of when riding? like strength of tubing/welding etc?

I'd be worried about any frame that had structural integrity issues regardless of make.
The guy makes solid alloy frames for all uses. From speedway to CX, so he's got the time and numbers under his hands and I don't doubt he knows what hes doing in terms of craftsmanship and quality control. As for ride quality, find someone who owns an alloy frame and go for a ride. Then find someone with a steel frame and ride that. See what you prefer.
General consensus is alloy is a harsher ride while steel is "springier".
Someone far more experienced than myself might be able to explain better, but you'll have to ride one or the other to learn its traits. -

This ^ his product is fine, but his customer service could be improved.

Build seems fine, the tubing won't be as good as the mash but it's a whole bunch cheaper.

Had a look at a Mash frame the other day, such an awesome frame. Still, thinking about ordering one of these as a Mash copy for now and then build up a Mash as a summer ride.
Are us forumengers getting any sort of discount?
-
• #4220
Right, silly question how to order and what do you need to tell him?
I want a Mash copy with slightly lower stays, what would he need to know?
-
• #4221
you email him, address should be on the website.
lower seat stays?
You say you want the seat stay 'pipes', as he calls them, to meet the seat 'pipe' a bit lower than normal. mabye send him a picture of an example.

• #4222
Ok perfect, its sort of copying another frame on this forum (hope thats allowed) so will probably just send a picture of that to him.
