for proper track line you need 103. 107 will work fine though.

but there are much better cranks out there for little more, or similar for less.

if you have them to look at they will have spacing for 2 chainrings (lips on each side where the bolts go).

you can use a 107bb and put the ring on the inside to get correct chainline, but it looks fugly

I'm having trouble buying a bottom bracket because I have no idea what I'm doing... I know my crankset is JIS square taper, what else do I need to bear in mind? I've never bought a bottom bracket online before.

I'm not too sure how you are asking.

they do seem to be the same as the ones branded as sturmey archer (and umteen other brands)

103mm is length to get track chainline with the chainring on the outer, yes.
