I’m super excited to be the owner of this as of today. Plan is to investigate the rust patch on the chain stay and then build it up as a sscx bike for mucking about in the woods

Saw that. Does it have signature wrap-over seat stay thingamejig?

I found it difficult to tell from the low quality photos. Been looking for a Cx frame with semi horizontal dropouts for a while so was a happy coincidence this popped up.
No mudguard mounts and spray job seems legit so would imagine an older cx race frame. Did/do rourke do resprays and redecal up with their own decals like I’ve seen with some bj/argos frames?

Should make a really nice SSCX build.. Yeah Rourke do resprays, I'm planning to get mine back to them this year ideally Covid allowing. And I saw on another forum years ago, Jason Rourke commented that they will always try to help and give as much info on any of their frames when people are looking to buy second hand and such and they will try give you history of it too!

Nice. Was watching this but missed out on the bidding. Had exctly the same thought re SSXC. Shout if you end up moving it on!

Will do. Yeah bidding end was at a weird time which is normally good for bargain hunting. Again couldn’t really tell from the photos but one of the rear canti bosses looks a bit on the wonk so will have to see if that’s an issue

Been enjoying reading through this thread and seeing some lovely bikes. Picked this up and was wondering if anyone knew what steel it might be made from. Have contacted Rourke, but I'm guessing archive digging is likely not a priority at the moment. Chromed Campag dropouts and chanstay, Cinelli Spoiler BB shell, 27,2 seatpost.

Ooh that’s lovely. The paint looks in great Nick. Sure they’ll get back to you quickly enough - they seem to have a rep for being at that sort of thing.

There a head turning lo pro on ebay the moment.
Seems like its good condition and decent components, but looks big. Hard to tell who it'll fit given the agreesive geometry.

Thanks. the whole bike is in really good condition and the paint is near immaculate.
^That Lo Pro looks wild.

Assuming it was specked with Dura Ace from new, you’d expect it to be 653 as a minimum.

Amazing condition and fantastic paint job. Looks my size if you ever sell!!!

Hi Guys,
I picked this up yesterday and I am pretty sure its not a Rourke due to the seat stay wrap around style but hoped you guys could help with the identity etc?
Thanks in advance!

I doubt that every Rourke has the The Seatstay Wrapover... they're custom, and there's always some Berk who wants something different.
Why not find the serial and ask Rourke?
-
• #318
Thanks for the reply, there is no serial under the BB Shell are they likely to be anywhere else? Thanks

Rourke often respray bikes for customer and often put there own decals on them.
Its clearly a nice frame.. holdsworth is a hunch. -
• #320
Yes I guess that could be whats happened.
-
• #321
Ah, good point!
Always worth checking the steerer for a serial. Weird you can't find anything on the frame. Sometimes new paintjobs can obscure them, usually on the BB.

Love the esoteric-looking brakes on that btw.
