Sweet! Same issue as the Panasonic and my new wheels. I filed down the replaceable axels, rather than the non replaceable fork ends.

Guess I need to fine a file..

Nice!
Was going to suggest Soma Highway 1 for bars but SJS are out of stock and I don't where else you can get them. Why do you want compact/are you sure you won't go classic?
Also for cranks I think you clearly need Mavic starfish...
-
• #5
Mainly becuase its a pretty tiny frame and I want to actually ride it, classic bars are huge but I'll have a think,
Mavic starfish would be ace but finding a BB to match them would be a pain in the arse
the soma highways were what I had in mind i sent sjs an email anyway to see if they planned on getting more

Might go in and see if they have a pair in the store... or give them a call and see if they can get them pulled into the shop, good find cheers

Dem sparkles.
Nice frame, hopefully French threads won't be too much of a pain! -
• #9
Well I've got cranks that match the BB ive ordered and once the headsets in everything fine really!
-

I had the same problem with my forks/wheels on the beater, well depressing when you want to get it together as quick as possible etc, I have a file thats a good size for the job, near broadway market if you're around. they're pretty cheap in a hardware shop though..
lovely frame by the way, considered buying it for the missus..

Hey ernest I work next to haggerston park so that would actually work really well if I could borrow it for a few days... I'll drop you a PM
-
• #12
Might be worth replacing the axles (an nuts etc) instead as they look to be campag hubs? The threading on the axle is different to others and can be a pain to find spares for...
-
• #13
Nope they're novatec hubs!
-
• #14
Oh, they look nice! File away...
-
• #15
Im considering dropping the compact drops for risers...
-
• #16
nope, go for compacts!
-
• #17
I haz mavic starfish

So, sanding down the stem has worked a treat, my arm kills but its pretty much there, will finish tomorrow.
wheels fit fine and secure only 10 mins with a file on the axle, was a tiny amount needed to slide them on
Waiting for a seatpost to arrive from france and i need to get down to micycle to fit the headset..
-
• #21
Ive arranged to drop my frame at micycle tomorrow morning so i can install the headset straight after work, so my gitane will finally make progress!
Although sanding the stem is taking forever and my arm hurts done it 3 seperate nights and still not there, can only do 30-40 mins at a time before my arm gives in

So I'm having a a nightmare with this
the VO stack height is too large for the steerer, and 99.9% of ebay listed ones have no stack heights listed,
potential solution: new fork.
After not being able to decide what i wanted to do with my fake aende thing, I realised it was mainly because it was never going to be exactly what I wanted,
So I spotted this

http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj636/euceta1/P1000148_zps2f68a270.jpg
And its midget size (my size) so I thought why not.
Arrived from france today, and it is so so nice, never been built up or ridden and was only removed from packaging to take photos to put it up for sale.
On its way to me are french threaded BB and headset from VO in the US.
I ordered a 26,6 seatpost as I was told but its too big, so need to send that back and try again!
its sparkly good.
Already run into a problem
namely this:

Im right in thinking filing the axel is much more advisable than the fork...?
I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to build it up,
It'll be getting the wheels I have on the aende but I feel they'll get swapped out eventually for something shiny and silver.
Im looking for some chrome compact drops, I was tempted by risers but I'm pretty set on drops.
The shimano EX cranks I have will be going on this as the VO french threaded BB's are all ISO, and they're solid as anything, I also like how they look!
(sparkly)
