44th does not sound like DFL to me, how many wimped out mid race?

The queue for the wash post-race had more than a few bikes with snapped derailleur hangers - I would guess quite a few.

I don't think I want to know my result. I'm pretty sure I came in last (again) :(

Late to this, but here goes--this was just superb. I'm never washing the mud off my shoes. Maybe I'll spray them with Kryolan. The best edition yet, although I had to miss last year's. The buzz was great, watching the racing incredibly enjoyable (and Fenella, it really is worth catching the children's race--you should watch at the bridge), and the course for some reason was even more interesting than before with the additional challenges in the 'outfield'. Too many highlights to list all--tandems, new site layout with more infield space for spectators (hopefully a larger 'village' will grow into this as the event gets more popular), absolutely loving people tearing through the outfield in those costumes, and it's great that even people in the senior race don them. Superb organisation, an excellent bar (well done to winston for getting the beer crates over from Germany!), lots of helpers helping the kids over the bridge--the kids' race is almost my favourite part--, and it's just brilliant to see so much life at Herne Hill, using the whole site and creating such a celebratory atmosphere. At last the event lived up to its muddy name. Well done, Rollapaluza. May there be many more Muddy Hells!
