  • Kev/beagle can you put scorers up for our last league game?

    Beagle should have it.

  • Also when you score lots of goals, refs start disallowing your goals. That affects the numbers too.

  • ^ score more legal goals?

  • You all are such geeks. I love it. Please, someone keep on the assist count. LBP a step ahead of the world...

  • what fucking assist count? Shit i'd be top fo sho. You seen the bogers numbers? :) Cam scored ten on saturday. Boges scored 8. "One Cam team, one Cam team!"
    Just kidding Ali.

  • Nice work Ben. The more stats, the better it's going to be when Chinese betting syndicates finally get involved in polo.

  • Inspired by a section in the Metro today:

Each team's top scorers and % of team's goals

    Josh - 54% (Lebowski - 13%)
    Todd - 47% (Mayeut - 26%)
    Antonio - 46% (Nik - 33%)
    DT - 44% (Matt - 33%)
    Bogey - 43% (B - 24%)
    Ed - 40% (Ryan - 36%)
    Rupert - 36% (Aidan - 13%)
    Ali - 35% (Cam - 23%)
    Iain - 25% (Adam - 23%)
    Max - 25% (JB - 20%)

  • Awesome. Nice one, Ben (+ James).

    Whatever dude.

    Rep'd.

  • Beast 18 - 15 Bees

Game started with Beast pushing a high line and Ali scoring first while Bees were defending well. Jakub was brilliant on the hussle and Bees played on the break and raced into a 4(Seanx2, Jakub, Bogey)-1 lead before Cam caught the Bees defence napping and hit 4 in a row to put Beast ahead. Not to be undone, Brendan hit a hat trick to regain the lead and Bogey added another to bring scores to 8-5 to Bees with less than 5 minutes remaining in the half. Ali hit back will a well taken double and Beast drew level through a (un)fortunate OG at 30:00 on the dot to tie the game at 8 apiece.

Second half started much quicker for both sides, but the strategy was turned 180 with Bees constant on the attack and Beast defending deep. Vit opened the scoring for Beasts with a well taken goal before Bogey replied, the first via a sprint down the left after being sent through by Brendan and the second a well taken shot when teed up on top-D to put Beast ahead.

Thereafter the game was a bit scrappy, crashes etc. started to creep in with Cam(x2) and Ali capitalising to bring to give Beast a 12-10 lead. Bees levelled through goals from Sean and Bogey but that did not last long, Cam and Ali both replied with a couple each for the Beast as the third quater approached and Brendan got another at 45 minutes to end the quarter 16-13 to Beast.

Bogey grabbed another double to narrow the deficit to a single goal with 12 minutes of the game remaining with Beast defending very deep and Beez pushing very hard for the equaliser. The game was very well balanced at this point and could have gone either way had Bees got an equaliser but two late goals from Cam, the last with 2 seconds remaining sealed it for Beast.

Beast: Ali, Cam, Louis, Rick, Vit

    Brendan x 4
    Sean x 3

    Vit x 1
OG x 1 (just in case peeps wanna calculate the (un)luckiest team)

  • Cheers Ben,

That put's Ali up in equal third with Ed, cam goes up to sixth and B in sevth in the top scorers table :)

  • Surely you should work out the mean number of goals per game first because some people have played in a lot more games then others hence having the opportunity to score more goals (or not)...

  • ^ Dont mind helping out with a end of league analysis of team/individual. Was thinking of plotting a chart for each each/individual v. the time they score in games.

  • ^^ In that case I'm pretty sure it's cam with an average of over 9 per game!

Yeah I was thinking about that Ben...

What minute had the most goals, graphs, that kind of thing.

    #analystsareboring

  • You ninja-edited before I could reply. Yep. Was thinking of by quarter but which minutes should be doable too.

  • You boring bastards...

  • It's a shame there isn't a league blog this year to put all that.

  • Nice write-up, Ben... x

  • You boring bastards...

I'd better not mention that I was thinking of putting the results into a database as I need to practice my SQL queries...

  • In which period (10 minute segments?) do teams score the majority of goals?I would like more analysis on amount of shots by opposing teams. Dig deeper into goal difference.
Are the teams scoring lots of goals conceding a lot? Cost/benefit?
    Court time/goals scored.
Amount of touches before goal scored. Remember ManU's 47 touch build-up? Or is a team killer on the counter.

So many questions! LPC ahead of the game

  • Assist and shots on goals will be brilliant but there is lack of data to analyse that and hence we have to make do with what we have.

I am serious on getting the team/individual v. period in games they score analysis and graphs done as it is currently has the most data collected. Maybe something to note for the last 3 fixtures? As with any data, it would have to be cleansed first and then eliminate the outliers (although there are those who would say otherwise) etc. but I think it's doable in a weekend.

  • Will pay for Beagle-time in beer and smokes

  • Jesus! I've started some crazy shit here

  • Snoops, you canny afford beagle time
