Agreed last minute between Captains to play in snowy sleety conditions on Mitchison Rd. The court was not actually that bad and there were not that many falls.

Second half have seen more defending from Doughballs with quite a few fast breaks, unfortunately for them not ending up in goal. Badgers seemed calmed and organised scoring one after one every now and then till the final 16:3

Goons vs Mighty Beasts
On paper this looked a tasty match-up. The skill and experience pretty much evened out across the two teams and so the scene was set for a dramatic encounter between the current league leaders and a team, which could very well prove to be contenders for a top finish. Unfortunately for the Beasts, they were hit with two no-shows, which would prove to be integral to the outcome of the match. Goons had a full line-up and were raring to go. The mood was ever so slightly morose in the Beasts camp (for obvious reasons), but nevertheless, the team talk was done, fortifying exchanges were had and the game was kicked off.
Beasts started first half with a roar, quickly going ahead through Rick within the first 2 minutes. Goons did respond, but the game looked open. First 10 minutes ended Goons 3 - Beasts 3. Then the inevitable happened and Goons kicked into gear. The next 20 minutes of the game Ed was on absolute fire, scoring no less than 7 goals. Some were brought on by errors in Beasts’ organization, but full advantage was taken. Joe Spikes came on in the last 10 minutes, after having suffered technical issues for most of the first half, scoring a sweet goal off his left side.
Score at half time: Goons 14 - Mighty Beasts 3.Second half started the way the first ended. Ed wasted no time piling more pressure onto Beasts, scoring two further goals within the first 3 minutes. Credit to Beasts though, they kept going and didn't lose their composure at any point. Which is admirable, as Goons just dominated the game. Ryan and Ed took turns bringing the ball forward, but at no point did it seem a two-horse game. Some sweet passing and 3-man out pressure from Goons paid off and the game looked wrapped up. With 10 minutes to go however, Beasts sprang back to life spearheaded by some outstanding play from Ali. He scored almost instantly after Ryan's 7th goal of the game and the game got exciting again. Ryan put another goal away, quickly followed by one from Joe, but the Beasts were in no mood to roll over. Louis gave it one last push and scored two within the last 6 minutes.
Final score: 23-6

49.09 Ryan
50.21 Ali
51.04 Ryan
53.26 Joe
53.50 Louis
58.23 Joe
59.52 LouisGoons look like the team to beat this year. Although the large majority of goals came from Ryan and Ed, Adrienne and equally Joe were involved in most of the plays and where Ades stood out for her calm play and passing skill, Joe brought a different element with his speed and tenacity. I made a special note of how Ryan and Ades would really make the 1-2 passing work; Ryan passing hard and precise, Adrienne controlling perfectly and feeding it across the center. This happened a number of times and created many goal scoring opportunities. Overall the game was played in a great atmosphere and although there was plenty of physical play, not a negative word was uttered. Great to see!
MVP: Adrienne, for the sweet passing and that double BB goal.

Despite the score and the horrible weather I really enjoyed the game against the goons.
Loved the skill and physicality... And I've got to say I think Ryan's coaching is a large part of how well they work together.
Beasts have the record for biggest drubbing? :)

Due to the weather issues, games from the second phase can be played until the end of February.
The third phase has started, and the rest of your games need to be played by the end of March.
