Just a little reminder, we've had 1 game played, 3 more scheduled, and 6 I've heard nothing about, you've got 3 weeks left to play them.

Dragon Slayers beat Chukkers Fuckers 14-5
Andy, 6, 1-0
Mayeut 8 & 15, 1-2
Jono, 20 & 21, 3-2
PK, 22, 4-2
Andy, 25, 5-2
Jono, 27, 6-2
Andy, 28, 7-2
PK, 31, 8-2Half Time
Todd, 38, 8-3
Jono, 40 & 42, 10-3
Andy, 50, 11-3
Todd, 50, 11-4
Max, 56, 12-4
Andy, 57, 13-4
Mayeut, 58, 13-5
Andy, 60, 14-5A slow game to start, Mayeut scored a couple of nice goals to take the lead, but in the last 10 minutes of the half, starting with two quick goals from Jono, the Dragons destroyed Chukker's Fuckers, the game was effectively over at half time.
There was a stalemate at the start of the second half, and Chukker's got one back, but it wasn't to be, Jono scored another 2 quick goals to take it out of reach.
Man of the Match was Andy Lockett, top scorer with 6 goals, and always in the action. But Jono also scored a lot, and at important times. Max was solid in goal.

Nice report H-bomb! Should I do the same if I ref doughballs and killer bees tomorrow? I have a stopwatch but if anyone has a whistle, that would be useful.
-
• #207
brilliant, thanks for coming down tomorrow (in advance) jess.
-
• #208
I'll try and make it, but it depends on work.
Yeah, Jess, if you can record the scorers, or get the teams to do it, that would be awesome, we want to get the top scorer this year.
Times and a report is less important.

I've got to meet a couple of people, but of I can push them back till after the game I'll be down.

I'll talk to Vince, and see if we can do anything about scorers in there, but otherwise I'll knock up a google doc for that.

Killer Bees vs Alakazam! - Sat 17th November 11am at Newington.
-
• #216
Doughballs 9 - 19 Killer Bees
Boagey, 4, 0-1
Brendan, 5, 0-2
Dave, 6, 1-2
Boagey, 7, 1-3
Jimmy, 10, 2-3
Brendan, 11, 2-4
Boagey, 12, 2-5
Brendan, 14, 2-6
Dave, 17 & 19 & 20, 5-6
Boagey, 24 & 27, 5-8
Matt, 32, 6-8Half time
Boagey, 33, 6-9
Brendan, 34, 6-10
Boagey, 35, 6-11
Brendan, 36, 6-12
Boagey, 37, 6-13
Brendan, 41, 6-14
Boagey, 43, 6-15
Dave, 44, 7-15
Brendan, 49 & 50, 7-17
Matt, 52, 8-17
Dave, 53, 9-17
Brendan 58 & 59, 9-19The first half was a game that ebbed and flowed, Killer Bees would take a lead, but the Doughballs would peg them back, finishing 6-8. But the Killer Bees came out for the second half and were scoring from everywhere. Boagey and Brendan traded goals, scoring 7 in 10 minutes to take a 9 goal lead, after which the game was all but over as a contest. Doughballs regained their composure, and the teams were much more equal, but the start of that half was the crucial period of the game.
There were some great performances from both sites, Dave scored lots of important goals (3 in 3 minutes in the first half, to give them their momentum back), Julia was like a wall in defence, but for Man of the Match I've got to give a joint award to Brendan and Boagey, whenever they were on court together the goals were flying in, Brendan hitting them long, Boagey getting the closer ones.

My parents were in town visiting, and popped along to watch me play (they've never seen Bike Polo, so despite the embarrassment, I'm glad they came along to see what I spend all of my spare time doing!) and I thought I'd share their perspective;
Really nice bunch of people, great to see everyone having so much fun despite the competitiveness and adrenaline, really impressed with the bike control etc. but mainly they wouldn't shut up about how fun it is to watch people doing what they love, smiling, and not getting aggro etc. as is seen in most other sports. They questioned why we don't have benches etc. for people to watch, hah!
To those who haven't played their league games yet, you're missing out. The extra people this year really makes every game an event, at both we've played we've stuck around for throwins, beers and smokes afterwards, which is a credit to the Bench atmosphere considering the temperature and stakes.
Can't wait for our next game.
