I'm off work from tomorrow until the end of January if you need any help with this - just let me know if there's anything I can do.

I tell you what, this route is 100% amazing. Driving it was a hoot, so riding it will be doubleplus good. Epic is a word too often used, but it really fits in this case. The scenery was amazing, incredible variety.
Can't wait for next year!

The route is still under wraps, and the roads are VERY quiet and almost unused, but Google Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire and you'll get a feel for it.

Matt and Tom, give me a shout when you are going to recce the route on bikes, would be good to catch up with y'all.
Ill be dragging a couple of lads out on this ride next year. The camping option sounds like it could be a laugh. Get the panniers out and make a weekend of it. -

Evening all
Im a Yorkshireman myself and grew up in a village in the Esk valley near Whitby, very close to the aforementioned Grosmont and Gothland. I really would be interested if there are places still left for this, I would also drag along my girl friend(/partner in crime) whom has also recently caught the vintage bike bug. Is it open to all forumgoers, I wouldnt want to intrude?
Cheers

Excuse the ignorance but what other Yorkshire frame makers were there? I really fancy this and I'd like to buy something crafted in God's Acre, as I believe the locals call it.

Chadders - apart from hipster's favourite, Bob Jackson, there's Ellis Briggs:

Woodrup, maker of the other halves new ride...
A head and shoulders above Bobby J in my opinion.

That's lovely!
Both made superb bikes. (Maurice Woodrup was taught to build frames by Bob Jackson.)
Other good Yorkshire frame builders were Baines (of course) Geoff Clarke, Whitaker and Mapplebeck (which became Pennine Cycles) and Bob Jackson has also made frames for Merlin and Hetchins.
I'm sure there must be more!

i don't want this first ride to get silly with entries but of course - it is open to anyone with a vintage bike and willing to do the miles - will create somekind of entry system in the new year

Loving the Buzz around the T'Eroica... are you going to make sure the dates don't clash with the L'Eroica Japan? Think I am more likely to make it to Yorkshire, than Yokohama, but who knows.....
matt and i had a very successful scout and will be doing a test run in the next month or so - getting exciting now!
