  • The frame's straightforward geometry makes for a very elegant runabout. Good poise. Fork looks the business too.

  • Cheers b&d, Jake is up next for the portrait sesh

    Can I book one in?

I'm getting the GT back up and running tonight

  • edit wrong thread

Of course, PM me and we'll arrange it.

    +1 :)

  • +1 :)

there's already enough photos of your bike!

But seriously give me a shout when you're free

  • This is the current view from my bed:

Commuted on it yesterday and it's a real pleasure to ride. So light and nimble, and compared to the riding position on my Dolan it's basically a sit-up-and-beg, even with the 130mm stem.

The only thing I'm not sure about now, barring the tyres (still) is the pedals. Got some lovely Campag pedals at the jumble the other week:

But I'm not sure they'll be comfortable enough for regular use. Might be a job for GR-9s or, failing that, clipless, if I decide what the bike is for.

  • gr-9's bro

  • Me and my big feet are fans of Sylvan Touring pedals when I'm running clips and straps. More chance of pedal strike I guess but I've never had a problem on a track bike.

  • Two wheels missing.

  • Finally has the tyres it deserves...

(Shit photo, but they're nice Paselas rather than pasty Luganos)

And, the last piece of the puzzle:

(Again, big thanks to Hilly Ben)

  • And, the last piece of the puzzle:

    apart from the correct headset...

  • ^^ saw this this morning at LMNHs looks great with the gumwalls

  • (Again, big thanks to Hilly Ben)

sorry i had to charge 1 full slice Guinness cake
but they are very very rare
    (and i was hungry)

  • Fantastic build & great pics Spotter.

Are you commuting 52x16? My knees are in pain even thinking about that

  • 52x19 luckily, I kept the 16t cog on the tubular wheelset, which is finally back in my possession as well after Apollo's very patient custodianship finally came to an end.

  • For one reason or another, I hadn't been showing this beast enough love. When money got tight, I even, briefly, considered selling it. There were a couple of things that just weren't working for me.

    1) I was using MKS GR-9 pedals, and the straps kept rubbing on the cranks, which I didn't like
    2) I realised risers are for chumps not for me
    3) The headset, which I'd had a bit of a problem with before, had worked itself loose.

Last week, I decided to actually get off my arse and do something about it.

    Enter Dammit:

Maximilian (bars), Clara (lever) and Condor (stem):

and a big spanner for the headset, and I have a bike I'm back in love with:

Unfortunately, I put a big scratch/small gouge in the bars fitting the stem, despite being assured they were the same size, and prising open the stem a bit. I am also out for a silver TT lever rather than a crosstop for braking I'm a bit happier with at speed. Then, obviously, I'll tape the bars.

  • I put risers on my tarck bike yesterday, I feel like Mary Poppins now when I ride it.

  • Yeah I was getting sick of the Jessica Fletcher look and acting like a giant windsock.

I'm trying to decide whether bullhorns are the best of both worlds, or a half measure. I'm pretty sure bullhorns with a TT lever, which is what I'm using on my daily bike anyway, is where I want it to end up.

Tempted to try this one out at Herne Hill again as well, though with the 130mm 3ttt flex-o-matic it's a world away from my Dolan.

  • New lever and bar tape anti-porn:

(£5 Condor tape, not actually that bad)

And an ugly solution to not wanting to route the cable under the tape:

  • Why didn't you put it under the tape?!

  • For a quick switch to another lever

  • maybe

  • For a quick switch to brakeless

    yeah, makes sense

  • Brakeless is probably less likely, but just for quick switches in general.

I've been through about 4 levers on this bike now, and this may be the one, but I can't be sure. Also, the Cane Creek levers are hard to route neatly under tape at the best of times, and wrapping really isn't my strong suit.
