One thing I never understood was why the pacer had to pedal when it looks like they are putting no pressure on the pedals, can you explain that for me please?
To fine tune speed

does anyone know where they sell dernys?
have friend needing one when he gets his l3 ticket -

I think they're still made in Belgium by Arie Simon. My old coach went over there to get a couple a few years ago. I think the ones used at Newport Velodrome were made by Simon too. They bought them new about 5yrs ago.

As I understand there's 2 guys making them.
1 in Holland and the other might be Belgium.
J.mf. I have a number for a guy that acts as an agent in this country for one of the builders. PM me and I can put you in touch.

God I love fiddling about with little 2 stroke engines!

hehe, this ^

Looks great, it's going to go pretty well with a 70cc engine.
One thing: You don't appear to have a breather on the fuel tank, unless there is a tiny hole in the filler cap / plug.
No air in = no fuel out.

But don't most dernies have a 98cc?
-
• #40
ha ha, all that effort and you think he would overlook a fuel tank breather? I somehow doubt it!
The only thing I can see missing is somewhere to rub a front wheel against when being paced, but I doubt that has been forgotten. Amazing build.

Unlikely I know, but in 30 years of working on custom & restored motorcycles I have seen all sorts, including the guy who after a two year build phoned me to tell me the engine I had built would not start. He was right, it wouldn't, until I connected the negative wire to the battery!

Chrobin, our dernies (at the Glasgow velodrome) are running like crap at the mo, wonder if you can offer any advice as you seem to be pretty mechanically clued up.
I suspect the derny guy that came up for the World Cup put more 2 stroke oil in the pre-mixed petrol I had made up. They are all have a really black, oily exhaust and the plugs were black and wet/oily.
I cleaned all the plugs and a couple of them fired but died a few seconds later. If I drain the tank and refill with properly mixed fuel and flush the carb would you think I will be in luck or do I need to do something to remove the excess oil from in the top of the cylinder?
Edit: Oh also, did you get proper gaskets for your engine or just make them out of cardboard? I'm worried that I'll need to take the engine apart at some point and parts supply seems pretty bad for these things.
