Working on a prototype for a 'signature' model cat. Something familiar I can return to between other projects and that will hopefully lead to developing a style of sorts

I'm taking a little childhood inspiration from Bagpuss for the big tomcat jowls :-)

This piece of Ash is quite tricky to work with

The last of the koi died last year, so the pond is being dismantled ( before it falls apart )
Thinking of laying down a few slabs there to make an outdoor working space

Will be able to get a level area of about 2.5 x 3m there, which will come in useful for doing outdoor messy jobs, like belt sanding, power planing or routing

Guttering and run off could cause damp issues potentially, a small soak away wouldn't be too much work and very beneficial imo.

Yeah, you wouldn’t want your creatures to get damp. If it’s worth doing it’s worth doing right, innit?

About as flat as I can manage, with a tiny amount of slope off onto the lawn. All ready for laying some slabs tomorrow

I need to do this out the front of our new home, did you just level and spread sand?
-
• #946
After digging out a little more turf, I tried to level the soil as much as possible and remove any large stones with a rake, before dumping about 7 or 8 small bags of sand on there. Then used a reasonably level length of wood to even everything out
The slabs mostly went down nice and flat, though I'll need to tweak a few once everything's settled

Ok, thats good to know my area would only be 4 x 3 max so i dont think any minor deviations will be noticable
