Did anyone do this fixed?
Spotted a fixed bike in one of the sheds at work this morning with an LEL tag on it, rider number K2 I think.

You don't need to qualify for the LEL which result in lots of people whom are mechanically inexperienced, and have a poor choice of equipment for the ride.
I DAS one fixed rider on Yad Moss whom on a matt black Specialized Langster with baby blue Velocity Deep V rear wheel.
That's the one!

While still in the minority (the Di2 people outnumbered them despite having lots of technical problem), there's quite a good number of fixed during the right, from the Langster, Precursa to a custom Roberts;

There was an old guy who arrived in Brampton about 11am on Monday riding an old steel fixie. Well ahead of the main pack. I was impressed.

Suppose there's much less to go wrong riding a ss fixed bike.
That Roberts looks great ed. still trying to work out where the lights are on that thing though?

I remember that, old purple frame with centerpull brakes and non aero levers, with those tiny dynamo light.
Does he carry a rucksack? as there weren't anything I can see attach to the bicycle.

Not a frame bag, but I think made out of fibreglass or something similar;

Full DA groupset with the new TRP HY/RD brakes, 38mm tyres etc.

I wonder what that Specialised is like in crosswinds.
-

Not as much a problem as you think, barely noticeable.

Only got this evidence of my return legs heading to Barnard Castle.
You look much happier in this photo than you looked when I met you, arriving at Brampton wet and bedraggled the previous evening. I loved your bike, by the the way.
What make is your handlebar bag?

No, this isn't the bike I saw. That was a German riding a green bike which actually looked like a decently put together classic, with suitable LEL gizmos, rather than this bike which looks like it was found in a skip (apologies if its owner is reading this)
Still, it proves that you don't have to spend (much) money on a bike to ride the LEL.

Using the ID plate as a spoke card - I like that. Did it make a noise when the wheel turned?

I was caning it trying to get to Brampton at a good time to buy myself plenty of time to sleep, sorry it was hard to follow you without the aids of hearing aids and a wet glasses making it visibly difficult to read you.
Bag is a Gilles Berthoud which is pretty water resistance, wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, and a lots lighter than the quick-fix varieties.
