  • Yeah I wasn't going to edit the route so you could work out the time, obviously it won't take 6 hours!

  • Is the prologue planned as a mass led ride or do people have to find their own way - which could be tricky for visitors to London? A bit of mass ride silliness would be fun and help settle the high nervous tension that extra long rides generate. I might volunteer as a marshal.

  • and if I get another notification from Phil Whitehurst

I dont think he's going to go away.
Think I had ten updates from him this weekend.

  • Haha! aIthough I'm a bit of a hypocrite with all my comments on posts :p

  • Think we all should turn up in LFGSS jersey for the LEL team?

This getting closer, and having had a quiet word to one of the guys from Milltag......who in an around about way indicated that they could do an order of min 5.....

Is it worth trying to knock out a special edition twist on the shark pit?

  • Shark pits>>>>

    :(

  • Seeing as I a) Already have a LFGSS jersey, and b) Will already be having a special edition LEL jersey (provided I remember to order it in time!), then there doesn't seem much point for me

  • I'll just stick with the LFGSS I have.

  • I think ed isn't taking phil seriously enough :-) I don't own a lel or lfgss jersey, might change nearer payday!

  • I think ed isn't taking phil seriously enough.

I think I'll have a bit of fun with him, the harmless lack-of-cock kind of fun.

  • I will probably bail on this because I am deeply unprepared but just in case... where are the most sensible places for the bag drops?

edit: nm, just realised they have stats on the yacf thread and, like my similarly unashamedly uninformed method of choosing wine, I'm just going to go for the most popular option.

  • Bugger i forgot we have to do this today....

  • Tricity, if it's any consideration, I'm about as well prepared as you are.

I choose Barnard Castle and Pocklington as my bag drop (no reason other than it look like an idea distance to pick up each bag).

  • Done. Barnard Castle - Barnard Castle... pfff...

(version 1) My instant plan that I just made up now was... 10:30am depart, sleep at Thirsk (401km 18.5hrs 5am arrive - 4hrs kip 9:30am depart) - BC by noon and change (67km). Then 383km to Brampton (17hrs 5am arrive - 4hrs kip 9:30 depart) - BC by noon and change (67km). 485km later arrive at finish 2-5pm Wednesday:dead.

My initial timings are roughly 24kph... obviously I think reality might be 21kph or around 20 maybe... This also depends if people are riding in groups or not (I've not decided whether to ride for time or for fun) I just realised I haven't booked the Friday off.. just in case it takes way longer I might have to do it :-)

  • Done. Barnard Castle - Barnard Castle... pfff...

As in two bags in the same building? Which you can access on the way up and down?

    hmmm...

  • Yeah two bags - Just in case it rains (it's free why not!). Although the limit is 2.5kg per bag - I can't imagine needing more so maybe one is fine, might be useful to have the option though.

  • Ah okay if you don't need more than one that's fair enough.

At first I thought you hadn't realised you could access it both ways, and were wasting a bag drop

  • No - good point, I don't think I did realise.. might change it later maybe.

If anyone else fancies sharing their timings or stop points etc please do as it might help to highlight things I haven't thought of.

  • I'd seen this before and forgotten about it http://racearoundireland.com/ 13th Sept, 2100km at 650euro quite expencive... but nice progression :-)

  • I met one of the racers (Sean) when he was getting midfoot fitting done at Bike Whisperer. He crashed last year so couldn't do RAI but I think he's good to go this year and looking to use it as a RAAM qualifier. Good luck to 'em all. Mentals..

  • How does this compare to the Paris Brest Paris?

  • I mean for miles and hours in the saddle?
Be about 180 miles a day?

  • Lummee!

  • Just a little bit longer.

  • PBP is 200 miles a day. LEL 180 miles a day.
