  • so basically you're saying I'm cooler than TM right

  • I don't know how high we've set the bar here, but if you need to ask, then NO !
But you have bloody good taste in bikes, that is MONSTER :-)

  • Gren, this thread is just chronicling my search for the best riding and most fun bike I can build, although aesthetics have played a big part as well.

The best riding bike I've built so far would the this ....

It's not so HHSB, but rides amazing... Currently in hibernation waiting for summer.

Not how you mean designed by a committee, pretty sure it's nonsense though.

  • I'm cooler than TM right

    most def

  • Les, Fort, Mash, Raleigh, Orlowski, Condor, Panasonic, Sirius - any I am missing from the last 12 months? Reckon it is time to settle down in a monogamous relationship?

  • You missed the Argos... I don't think I could commit to 1 fixed bike, some days I want to ride the comfortable steel of the Sirius, long rides on sunny days the speedy comfort of the Condor... The stiff Raleigh is great for shorter rides, running 82gi at the minute and was good for the 25 miles I did last night... Then the Orlowski is the pub bike.

The Condor and the Sirius are the favourites for sure.

  • I love this thread...

  • Shot with the 75 ring, also put on a DA cog... Got a weird problem, chain is changing tension, tighter when DS crank is up, looser when it's down, I thought it was either the Miche ring or cheap cog, but still having problems.

Tried loosening to bolts to get the ring centred and it didn't help. Is it possible the Omniums are bent?

    And hipster sticker shot...

Hit 41.7 MPH on the 49x16 last night, reckon there is more to come, had to start decelerating as I was heading for a corner.

Need to find a good, long, smooth and steady down hill to see if I can get 50...

    Lunatic.

  • I prefer thrill-seeker.

Having seen that motor pace video on the slave thread, I might try and find someone with a suitable vehicle, put a bigger gear on, and aim for 60.

  • Fastest I've ever been on 2 wheels was 46.3mph that was 53/16 gearing and I reckon I could've gone faster but the road wasn't long enough to get there and slow down.

Go for it, you live a place with good hills don't you?
Just go out with a friend late at night but god sake Tom wear a helmet...

  • The hills are good, but the road surface quality is generally very poor. Don't want to be hitting pot holes or bumps hyping at that speed...

  • Very true, maybe run 25c?

  • I stacked it doing 40 at the bottom of a hill and am now a total bedwetter at descending.

    I love that raleigh

  • Indra, think it's more a case of finding the right road and having a couple of slower test runs to get a feel for it...

upstart, how bad was the damage? I've only had one high speed crash, was on my road bike, overcooked a corner, was lucky enough to land 15 feet from the road in a bed of thorns/nettles...

  • I was pretty lucky - made a mess of my chin, have a big scar by my right collarbone and a few scars on my shoulder, down my back and along my arm. Was wearing a helmet thankfully but it the inner frame bit that holds it on my noggin came free.

According to my mate who was riding behind me (I don't remember) I came flying off, nearly took out a pedestrian walking a dog, landed on the pavement and ended up in the hedge. Could've been so much worse though, so grateful for that. I was probably pushing too hard anyway.

  • Indra, think it's more a case of finding the right road, having a couple of slower test runs to get a feel for it, and being lunatic enough to have no brakes...

    Fixed.

  • 49.5mph was really fucking painful on 48/20.

  • got to 40+ on 49/18 that was pretty fucking scary. There's a high speed loop i sometimes do on 49/16 but i normally aim for getting a nice average (around 20mph) than peaking out but i got to 45mph on it once

    /boast post i guess?

  • 49.5mph was really fucking painful on 48/20.

    Damn Ed.

  • Tom any pics of the Cormia on the Condor?

  • niice rides homey

    263 rpm? I call bullshit.

  • Tom any pics of the Cormia on the Condor?

Nah, only spok action the Condor has had was a Hed...
