Its an old school technique from the garish days of 70's choppers/ hot rods. Its a special paint that you wrap clingfilm around and remove before its hardened. i'd imagine he does the marble base coat as a black/white, and then does the fade over the top with tinted lacquers, or 'candies' if you're american.

Yeah, £700. Can't knock him for if some fool is willing to pay it though.
The DSC Saffron cross bike in the same post was £2.5k for the paint alone. Was speaking to Matt (Saffron) about it at bespoked. Apparently the guy he built the bike for said he wanted DSC paint, at any cost.
The quality wasn't really that good either TBH.I have an Alpina track fork that i did a paint test on for the Talbot Space Disco TT bike. Have it lying around and though i might put it up for sale, but dont want to look like im copying DSC by selling one off forks!

@hoops Have you seen the thread on weight weenies with the guy that's got Ron Jones to do a custom paint job for him? The guy is from Denmark so it's actually going to be painted by one of the paint shops Specialized use in Italy. Ron has only charged him $100 an hour for the work, which actually seems pretty reasonable considering how much some people charge for paint and how famous he is.

Just read through that. Cool story.
I do love the custom stuff that the guys at Specialized knock out in their free time. Swiznooski has dome some awesome stuff. -

@mattyc Yes its my Pegoretti Duende. Ciavete paintjob from last year. Frame is a stock model I bought ex-display for cheeps from Mosquito.
I'll have to look at see what other photos I have a little later. Sadly its had a bit of a hodge-podge of parts on it since it was built up, so its hardly a showroom model.

I love it, others probably won't.

^Should have spent less on paint and more on cable cutters.....

More photos would be great! a hodge-podge is fine so long as it is getting ridden!
I'd love a Pegoretti someday, Mosquito is local to me so I'll keep an eye on any ex display models...Cheers,

Not this is the Place to post this.
Sorry.
But I'm toying With the idea of spicing up my Felt AR1.A) Mask everything off, and spray the current grey sections (inbetween forks, under DT etc.)
B) finely sand it Down and og With somethine completly different.
Either way I want to keep a lot of bare carbon, as the textreme is a cool finish.
I may have acess to someone who can spray Paint. But not With bike experiance.
Grateful for any tips. Is there a programme I can use to put together idea? BikeCad for finishing?

@Smallfurry mask - sand - primer - paint
it's really that easy. The better access to equipment and a booth you have, the better the finish you'll end up with, but that's the essence of it. I did my supersix in a garage with a bit of sheeting...
