white wheel rims are probably the ugliest thing ever, ask anyone on here. . The components, rim, & hubs are all good its just white cheapens everything

what do you mean? :s
Go and have a look through the Bike Porn thread, see if you can find a single lustworthy bike with white rims.
It's an undisputed fact that no nice bike has ever had either white rims or anodised coloured parts.

Well, I happen to like it... Just want some advice regarding quality of parts, taste is something else of course...
-
• #30
If it's (lack of) taste that's dictating your build, No Logo do orange rims. If you're going to do it, go balls-out!
-
• #31
No problem if you don't like it... Any advice not concerning personal taste?
-
• #32
Not really. You asked for opinions, and I have them. Everyone does on the internet, that's what makes it such a magical place.
I used to have a Peugeot with yellow bar tape and white-lined tyres.
I actually quite like the white Espresso Concor knock-off saddle.
But seriously, I would go as far as to say that the idea white rims look cheap is not personal taste but just common sense.

This isn't a matter of taste, white rims ARE shit.

Argh, beaten.
-
• #35
will see it for myself when I get them, I guess...

white rims, kinda like wearing white trousers?...
I like shiney silver things - so I'm pro-silver/chrome.
(n)either way, good luck with the build!
I stalk http://www.flickr.com/photos/ffxiking for inspiration too....

I personally don't see anything wrong with the white deep V's (maybe because i own some, ha) I think if you go down this sort of route they don't look too offensive ....

I just think a good mix of classic and new has to be had. I can say this as i've currently got orange tyres and an orange saddle. My Brooks and Schwalbe tyres (with gum wall's) are in the post along with brown leather grip tape.
People don't seem to like the deep white's but to be honest...i like that.

Like the rims on your bike, man! Mine are 30 mm rims, so think they are kind of like yours. Personally think it is gonna look great on a black frame with chrome handlebars, cranks and other hardware...
-
• #39
Most people don't like white rims, but if you think they look alright, go for it.
Don't expect everyone on here to like it though ;) -

white cranks are probably the only thing worse than white wheels

white cranks are probably the only thing worse than white wheels
Maybe I'll just do that to piss this forum off :p

• #42
just saying as i put white tyres on my first fixed bike and 2 months later realised the errors of my way and replaced them, and that was just tyres!
-
• #43
i liked white tyre so much i bought white inner tubes as well =P
tru lyfe story
-
• #44
Haha, oh god yea, my cranks are most definitely staying SILVER !!!! White rims is about as far as i'm going with mine !!!
-
• #45
Where do you even find white innertubes?!

King - awesome to see this thread as I am just about to embark on my first build with the same frame, so interested to see how yours develops. I have a couple of questions for the forum - do you know if the pre-cursa frame will take 170mm cranks, and what is the thickest tyre you can run on them - will they take a 25 / 28 mm tyre?
-
• #47
As long as the cranks fit the BB you're good to go. but the length of the crank is not what dictates whether parts will work together. So is irrelevant to both BB and frame. You do need to make sure you get a BB that will fit the frame though.

Gents - can someone tell me what the max tire size is for a Pre-Cursa frame? Will they take a 25 / 28 mm tyre? Cheers.
Acquired some SRAM GXP cranks and BB - so now on the hunt for some wheels.....
-
• #49
yep you will easily fit a 28mm tyre. :-)

Awesome. Cheers Kerob.
No connection to Espresso in any way, just thought it looked good, did I know it's rubbish :p
