A festival named after one of the greatest and most forward looking albums of all time? The head-liners are Jools Holland and Bryan Ferry! False advertising......

  • I'd love to see Charles Bradley live, he reminds me of Spencer Wiggins or O.V. Wright...

  • ^that's the only reason I'm going

  • Check out Portico Quartet if you can Murts, their records are awesome and I have it on good authority they're amazing live.

  • Charles Bradley is a cracking live act. I saw him warming up for Sharon Jones and the DK's a few years back. Such a powerful voice.

There was a really good documentary on the BBC a whaile back about his recent rise toi fame. That man has had a hard life. Its really worth a watch.

  • I just got back from Cry Me A River near Versmold in Germany, loads of great screamo/crust/hardcore bands, only about 200 people in a tiny scout but in the middle of nowhere, €25 including camping and vegan breakfast. It's not like any festival I've been to before but it was so much fun, definitely going next year.

Sorry I have just seen this, just got back, they were good .

beautiful weather, great atmosphere, so glad I went.

Charles Bradley was effin brilliant, such a humble man, gave him a big hug.
He was crying at the reception he received.

Brian Ferry, was cr@p, but I expected that.

Best new artist to me, that I thoroughly enjoyed there was Andreya Triana, Amazing voice.

One of the tidiest festivals I have been too, also. No rubbish, apart from in bins.

  • It must have been good, with the longest Murtle post in, like, forever. :)

Saw some pictures of my friends there. Not sure why but it got to me.
They've just stolen the idea of having lots of coloured powder, threw it over an overpriced London festival and called it Holi despite having zero to do with it otherwise.
    Bah humbug.

  • I agree Chung. I was in Varanasi for Holi 2 years ago and it was absolutely amazing. I just don't get the London thing.

  • Check out Portico Quartet if you can Murts, their records are awesome and I have it on good authority they're amazing live.

I used to play with the portico quartet all the time. They were, and presumably still are, great and super sweet guys. I 'found' them via my hot french flatmate who'd seen them busking on the southbank. We booked them for my regular sunday night pub quiz/music night in Bethnal Green a couple of time (there's a format that wants a revival) and ended up doing quite a few gigs with them. Last one I remember was at Jamm in Brixton... wicked night. They won some big music prize a few years ago didn't they?

  • Dooks you're like some amazing coolspotter and shit.

  • it' true.

  • I love it that my trolling thread title has people talking about music festivals with total conviction.

    I love you lfgss.

    Except the weapons, natch.

  • My bandmate is at wilderness festival this weekend. It looks like a total rah-fest. Hateful.

  • I'd love to see The Temperance Seven perform live, sadly this is unlikely.

  • Sorry I have just seen this, just got back, they were good .

and worth a quote for posterity.
Andreya has done lots of work with Si Bonobo, seen her yeah magic, this post makes me feel like Ive missed out on festivalling and ting this year...

  • SunceBeat aka Southport Weekender was OFF THE HOOK this year. Somehow surpassed last year. Moodymann and Osunlade take a bow, son(s)!

    Add saturation for great pics

  • thinking super hard about doing Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in Sete next year.
Will make a decision when the early bird tickets are put on sale, but I'm probably 80% going.

This has made me very happy..

  • The thread has possibly the funniest title on the whole forum.

  • ^^ my mate went and loved it.

  • Had some absolutely beezer times at Reading in my late teens/early twenties, the secret ingredient was menace
