  • Would need to distinguish between drivers using phones and passenger conducting a perfectly legal telephone conversation.

    fixed.

  • Yeah i doubt they get taken out of the box?

  • Yeah I know they don't usually, although a lot of headphones come with with mic's now.

  • Even so, the issue is holding a conversation rather than the hand-free, even with hand-free, their attention will somewhat still be diverted.

  • Yes, all cars should have a lead lining so signals can't get through!

Mabie i'm part of the problem although i am highly aware of bikes of all kinds, my job has me driving 50% of the time so i do alot of talking while driving, but have a headset that answers so i never have to mess with my phone. (although i work through the night not day)

Bad drivers are bad drivers, it could be a phone, food or their own kids, if they can have their attention drawn away it will happen.

I think we still need the stickers though.

Yep stickers would still be a good warning for cyclist who see them to keep a wide berth.

  • Most phones do come with headsets.

    Those aren't handsfree.

  • Those aren't handsfree.

    True!

  • Does the MET ever get back to you? I find it somewhat disheartening when time and again I don't hear a peep.

No, they never get back to me about mobiles... I just figure the information will stay on file so that when they kill someone they will get more than a ticking off. Welcome to my world of make-believe.

  • Most drivers won't take a call while driving as it's too risky. The risk being that it's visible and they might get caught.

Sending a text with the phone in their lap, on the other hand...

  • Yeah it had a name like they always do like Project narwal or something, but yeah if a reg is logged enough it flags up and they have a visit, so i'm told?

straight from a policeman friend of mine "operation Crackdown"

i hope they didnt pay too much for that one its a bit like my mazda MPV they called it...............

    MPV!

So yeah its a real thing,
REPORT BAD DRIVERS ESPECIALLY ONES ON THE PHONE.

  • I see lots of drivers on the phone too, I also see lots of cyclists on the phone, and pedestrians texting away while crossing the road. Everyone is bloody at it.

  • Burn them all!

  • I just watched a programme about police dogs (now there aren't any olympics......)
and the dog handler was talking into a phone as she hurriedly drove to some break in.

  • I'd say that's a bit different though. Unless she was talking to her mum?

  • "Hi Mum, must go now, chasing some crooks...." I wasn't watching that closely, but I looked up and saw her twirling the wheel and talking on the phone.
One rule for them, one for us!

  • Police=shithouse cunts.

  • bit like radio equipment, you can use that while driving, probly how they get around it as although what the police use look and work like phones they are not.

  • Hmmm I think I'd use my elbow/forearm easier to make it look like an accident/collision.

  • In the immortal words of my sister: "I'm actually very good at using my blackberry whilst driving".

I've never known a more inattentive driver. The amount of times I've been in the car with her and she's been nattering away and I'm like "hey ... hey! HEY! You're half way into the other lane!" "Huh what oh" SWERVE "anyway natter natter" [drift]

  • I was a passenger in a car on the motorway the other day, we overtake a guy on the phone, so gave him the phone sign with my hand with a wtf look on my face... he then took his other hand off the wheel to flick me the v's....unbelievable

  • An employee of her royal britanic majesty's mail service spotted yesterday chatting away on his mobile whilst piloting a lorry through London's famous twickenham.
Royal mail have asked for details, I doubt they'll do more than memo every employee with a passive aggressive reminder.

  • I dont know how anyone in a liveried vehicle thinks its ok?
