Gios lite tubing is made from Dedacciai Chrome-Moly tubing, the equivalent is Reynolds 531/Columbus tubing.
A few interesting net searches

Here's a Gios Torino Super Record I recently acquired, Super Record, Mavic SSC, Brooks, coins at the top of the fork legs etc.
Apologies for the poor quality photos, my skills are such that I could make Olga Kurylenko look plain.

gorgeous, totally porn-worthy build there, you must be a very very tall person

Nice thread here..
I have a Gios Compact from the late 80's that I bought on Ebay, a passerby today mentioned that the colour is not the proper Gios blue, and I've seen another Gios in a much brighter colour as well, so could it be that I have a fake? Is there a place one can check serial numbers or authenticate somehow? its a niggling issue for me at the moment!! Heres a pic of it anyway..
Any advice is appreciated!!
Cheers

I doubt that it's a fake. that seat tube - seat stay lug combo is very Gios also it looks like you have the adjustable rear drops outs as well.
A lot of expense/hassle to fake those.
I have a compact but with chrome forks and it is a darker hue like yours.
The newer Gios bikes are now made in Japan becuase they sold out.

unfortunately the ones I saw in Japan were made in Taiwan, iirc

You're probably correct. Far east of Turin anyway.

Did we ever find out the answer to this?
I have some touching up to do as well.

Nope, emailed Gios for pantone, no reply, a bit of a bugger because my '82 Aerodynamic is back to bare metal and ready for spraying!

My Gios rear adjustable dropout (rear derailer side) has come to grief / snapped in a mechanical... desperate to source one, for the Gios Compact frameset. Any ideas massively appreciated! < Am even considering buying another frameset to get the part such is my desire to get it back on the road, though they are seemingly rarer than a rare things rare bits. Please get in touch by reply or DM with any info you might have on where to get one? Many thanks. Marc

I searched for the correct blue, contacted marco and aldo they said it's a secret.
I'm overseas so it didn't seem feasible to send it over to turin to get it resprayed. This thread had some interesting info..
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/771519-Gios-Blue
noteably:
*See if you can get some House of Kolor SG-110 Marine Blue. It's
manufactured by Valspar paint company. Spray over a red primer base and you
have Gios blue. Spray over a white base and you have Colnago blue. Clear
coat over everything. It's as simple as that.

I have been lucky to pick up a Gios , stickers say Gios professional , bur has flattened back stays , nice forks slightly flattish aero shape legs with gold coins , on the top crown , drilled rear dropouts & nice slotted bb shell , it's been refurbished by Argos , so not entirely certain of the model . Just has the size number & a Gios panto on the underside of the bb .. Would post a pic but can't seem to on my ipad

This Looks lika Lot of work!
The Stickers are mixed of several Compact versions
So I guess the paint scheme is not original
The Top Tube Covers for the brake housing look like Cinelli, so not original And not tight enough
Please publish the Frame numbers And I can give you an idea of which model you own: Compact, Compact Pro, Compact Pro Evolution aso.
Collectable is only the First issue by th way -

Bugger collectible, ride it like you stole it and refurbish it once you've crashed and scratched it!
Marc, did you find a rear end? If not, I have a friend who can make you one.
Just to prove what an old hypocrite I am, here's some pics of my incredibly rare, collectible and over-polished Aerodynamic. I know it's all over CP at the moment, but sooner or later it will disappear when people stop posting....

Some pics from the dungeon. This is a '87 prototype of a GIOS MTB. Completly original trim with a ShimaNO Equipment. The Front brake housing runs through the stem like on old Cross rides and it got a U-brake. Original paint and stickers. The bike is approved by GIOS Torino (who else?)
This is for reference, in case any Member get's an offer which are mostly fakes.

OK, OK, you got me on the hook!
I'll start looking for an Aerodynamic with a frame hight between 60 and 62!
Again congrats for your bike
So many brands have their own threads so heres one for the classic Italian brand Gios which sponsored the great Brooklyn Cycle team.
Stick photos, articles readers wifes etc here
I also have a question. Does anyone know about the 90s Gios Evolution Model? Its made out of 'Gios Lite' tubing. What is that? Is this one of their entry level models?
