  • So you guys probably all know my Look

And also as you guys al know the frame isn't a real Look and I know nothing about the make of it.

Since the paint is in real bad condition I decided to give it a make over.

As I really like the Idea of a full groupset and as my Roadbike allready has Campagnolo, I decided to go for full Dura ace with some Nitto parts.

Frame is getting shaved to bare metal and then I will treat it with this stuff
    http://www.correct.nl/artikel.php?SUBMENU=Assortiment&ARTNR=392313

    This is the total Idea:

    Frame: Unknown trackframe, bare metal
    Headset: Dura Ace 7410
Bottom bracket: hopefully a Dura Ace one, otherwise other Shimano
    Cranks: Dura Ace 7600
Rear Wheel: Dura Ace 7600 hub laced to a Deep black rim (still looking for a nice affordable rim
Front wheel: Spengle Giro 3 (with Dura Ace QR hehe ^^)
Pedals: Thinking of MKS track, but the one's I have will do for some time

    Bars: Nitto B123
    Stem: Nitto Jaguar
    Seatpost: Nitto Jaguar

Saddle: San Marco Concor in Red
    Bartape: Fizik Bartape in Red

So the bike is pretty plain looking but the saddle and tape will make it look a bit more Hip.

    Tips are welcome!

  • The things I allready have now are:

    Dura Ace 7410 Headset

and I allready ordered the Bars, stem and cranks.

  • get some gr9 pedals, you will never look back:)

  • Don't know about those pedals, don't really like them.

  • you can cover the flat bit in skate deck grip tape and then they are truly the best...sadly, too narrow for me.

sorry to hijack this thread but can you recommend a wider pedal?

  • looks good man

  • Haha, got me a set of stem/bars for 24 dollars. Nitto b123 dropbar and Jaguar stem in 80mm, perfect as I needed a shorter one. It's badly scratched but I'm giving it a try in polishing. I don't mind the bars being scratched as they'll be getting covered in bar tape.

    So far I have:
    Dura ace 7410 headset
    Dura ace 7600 bottom bracket
Dura ace front Quick Release (got one free at my work)

    Nitto stem and bars.

  • what rear rim you getting? formation face ? or something more classic?

  • 24 dollars???? WHAT?

  • will be using this rim:
    http://www.cnc-bike.de/product_info.php?cPath=39_187_889&products_id=12269

As a collegue of mine says they're great rims for the money. I'm going for a deep rear rim to match my Spengle. Rear wheel has to wait though, as I have to spent my money on others things for now.

bought the parts I mentioned before from this seller:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NJS-Handlebar-Set-NITTO-NJS-Steel-Handlebar-390-NJS-Steel-Stem-115-w-Grips-/251103669776?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a76f1ee10#ht_2926wt_1194

Still have to wait for them to arrive but 24 dollars for the set was worth the try of polishing the stem.

  • it says 78 + 61 shipping ???

  • Yes, all the other ones are sold today! This is the last and is much more expensive and in much better condition. And yes, shipping was high so I ordered some more stuf (cranks and chainring) to compensate them.

  • small question:
The stem I bought has a lenght of 80mm, but it's a negative stem. Would this mean that the actual lenght is less than 80mm? That would actually be perfect.

  • It will be yes, the jag stems are measured c-c my 90mm measures about 80mm when measured on the horizontal. Bike looks great by the way.

  • So my 80mm will be around 70mm? That would really nice.

btw; lets add a photo to this thread.
Got this for 10 pounds, missing baseplate, but got one at my work for free :)

  • Best damn headsets ever made..

  • So I got some nice info!

Took the frame appart and found a production/frame number, which is 13!
Also found the make of the reardropouts, which is Campagnolo!

So now my quest to find the maker continues!

  • I highly doubt this is a 1940's Jack Taylor, but this link suggests so.
    http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/frame-numbering.html
Any other detail on frame number? suffix? prefix?

  • Lol, I don't think so. James (aka. Rik van Looy) has a frame with the same luggs and only a number (just like me), and campagnolo dropouts. But on his frame the number is on the reardropout. He thinks it's a Ron Cooper and he's trying to contact Ron.

I only have Campagnolo dropouts (front and rear) and a number 13 on the bottom bracket and the fork (so it's a set)

  • I have a habit of resolving unknown frames with remarkable similarity to other forumongers mysteries - last time it was Apollo's Bob Jackson!!
Ron's not too well at the moment, but when he's back at work the guys at ColourTech will show him the photos...

  • Too bad, the headset was to high for the forksteerer. So I have to options,

    1. back to the old headset/other headset
    2. new fork

Tomorrow we'll check if there is any other type of DA headset (maybe a 7400 will fit).
If not, I'll buy an other fork.

  • even if you lose the spacer?

  • Jup, it will never fit. Previous owner had cut the steere too much.
The headset "system" of this 7410 headset works different. It's 2 cups pressed into the frame. While the other system is a cup beneath and a cup sliding over the topplate (difficult to explain this shit haha).

The 7400 headset works like the "other system".
