• Oh dear. Dreadful news anyway, but especially so given the circumstances.

  • This is just awful news. R.I.P rider.

  • x

  • Just got reported on the BBC Olympic coverage too. Very sad news. RIP.

  • RIP Rider.

  • Very sad. As a 30 yr old Hackney cyclist it is rather close to home. RIP.

  • Words just can't link together to be meaningful. Thoughts, prayers, sadness. Rest well.

  • Feel like crying. So sad. RIP

  • Really sad to read this. :-(

    RIP

  • Horrendous

    RIP

  • Condolences to family and all who knew the rider. Bad news.

  • Why, is this countries roads so risky, still, again.
    R.I.P rider.

I live in Eastway and hate going along that road going towards Mile end, and also the reverse direction where it leads to the A406 too. Both sections scare me at times when a car driver is being stupid.

  • Awful news. R.I.P.

OmarLittle, similarly, I'm 30-something and live about a mile from the Olympic park and this has upset my girlfriend, especially since we have a young son. My thoughts are with the guy's family.

  • This is just so very sad. I really hoped the Olympics would pass without any grave incidents happening. We're not even out of the first week. Feeling very overwhelmed by it, and angry too.

  • Very sad and angry. A terrible waste of a person and a huge loss to his family and friends.

  • Horrible, horrible news.

R.I.P, condolences to all family and friends.

  • after all the support and achievements for GB cyclists this is a real sickener-
    thoughts to friends and family

  • Terrible news! Are there any actual details yet?

  • Horrible!!! : (

I suspect like I have already with the things I have seen while working all day that a lot of these bus drivers are not usual drivers in this city and therefore not as aware of cyclists. Seen a lot of em showing absolutely no awareness.

    RIP, thoughts going out.

  • The BBC article up above are about as much as it gets.

Not sure I want more details this soon.

I'm with you there Regal.... I take my son to nursery 3 times a week. This is making me think I should stop ;-(
Not sure what it is but this one has really hit me.....

  • Text from my dad: "You ok?".

    Me: "Yeah, it wasn't me."

Dad: "You read me like a book."

Sad to think how many of those texts are flying around tonight. Even sadder to think that some of them won't be answered.

It's the ups and down... win the TT... emotional high, so it leaves you vulnerable to being knocked down. To me, as a cyclist, this feels like the morning after London learned about getting the Olympics. It's gutting to have a high followed by such a tragedy.

  • Terrible news. RIP rider...

  • So sorry to hear this.
