Didn't Anna win the minidrome at York Hall or am I mistaken?
She's talking like it's her first go.
Nice to see Juliet as well. -
• #28
No, she did really well but didn't win.

That feature on punctures was one of the most pointless things I've ever seen. The show needs a different presenter, preferably one who isn't made of wood.
It filled a minute or two.

I'm aware they have a budget of about 10p but.......
Generally I think there trying to be Hip and Trendy rather than trying to get to the nuts and bolts of cycling. The Interviews are at a level most 12 year old would be proud of not supposed professionals.
The bleed over of sound from the Cafe is appalling and it could do with some glass screens to try and reduce the background noise whilst still involving the audience.
I think I'd sum up saying fantastic concept, needs a lot of improvement....
Rant over.
The 10p budget has been halved judging by tonights show

If the Cycle Show was produced and scripted by LFGSS.....
....90 minutes where five hipsters stand around and debate whether a given bike is porn or anti porn.

Episode 2. Twenty or thirty people sit around and discuss a forthcoming ride.
Episode 3. None of the original 20 turn up for the ride. The camera crew don't show either.

Watched it for the first time tonight, even 5p is generous. I nearly died from awkwardness when that BMXer shuffled in to a round of wet applause.
Dont know if anyone used to watch the skateboard programme Rad on Channel 5? That was the perfect format for a show, presented by people who knew their stuff, actually taught you interesting shit, and completely took the piss out of themselves at the same time. This show needs a bit of that. -

Funnily enough was discussing Rad earlier whilst talking about this.

Started watched ep 3 last night but switched off half way through. It's got boring now, the novelty has worn off, and they really don't get the best our of their guests. such a shame.

The show appears to be aimed at the general population not those who are already obsessive about cycling. That they have got the go ahead for a longer show points to it being well received among those to whom it was aimed.
It is not intended to be an edgy show for hipsters like a skateboarding programme might be. It is there to attract people to all facets of cycling. I think that it does this well and will improve.

^ You have to say that as they let you on.

No. They haven't sought me out yet. I've only done Sky Sports News and the BBC recently and Chelsea TV in the past.

I get the feeling it's similar to Adam Buxton's BUG on Sky Atlantic HD. That show is fucking hilarious live, but with a limited 20-odd minute slot (when ad breaks are taken) and not enough production to translate Buxton's stage presence into a good TV presence it's a little ropey. Still watch it, as a) I'd like the show to get good ratings and go on for more than the pilot number of episodes and b) it's quite watchable anyway: funny, interesting and a lot better than most of the tat on TV.
The Cycle Show could be way better - and maybe it will be if it can make it past the first series

The show scrupulously avoids anything too technical which is a shame as cycling is a technologically driven activity.

Can't believe no-one's mentioned the naff chainring graphic things, WITH EIGHT BOLT HOLES. That shit's just offensive, that a motion graphics 'designer' looked at some chainrings and went 'yeah alright, that chain cog thingymajig'll do for our logo, I'll just add a few more holes to it...'
If I never see another fucking 'cycle style logo' featuring either a chainring, cog or chainlinks it'll be too fucking soon.

Who is on it this week?
-
• #43
I'd say it's a bit rough round the edges but not bad.
Can some one maybe give interviewer some questions before hand as it all seems to be him trying to think of something on the spot and it just comes across as slightly awkward.
The content is the right kinda mix, top guests (merckx, Gary Fischer), nice features (the mini drome and mountain race)
Just try and keep it on point a little more seems to lose focus

Who is on it this week?
A discussion of what tyres to use for a typical London commute. The virtue of 23mm versus 32mm or whatever sidewall tyres.
Followed by a discussion on helmets, RLJing and lights -

I gather they they are going to have a special football slot as well.

Is that a John Terry reference?

Going to try and allow myself time to sit and ridicule this tonight, I've had a really nice positivity-laden weekend and feel the need to balance things out a bit...

I think it's a shame they don't really have time to actually interview the bigger names they've had so far. I think Merckx got maybe 5 or 6 questions and then they were onto the next thing.
