  • Maybe this isn't the thread for it, but I don't get why Podium doesn't (can't?) use Median-Blahblah. It's not perfect, but it seems way better than goal difference.

Because Vince hasn't implemented it yet. Technically it's possible, it's pretty simple, the problem isn't technical. The majority of players don't understand MB, and so most prefer to use GD, especially in NA where they haven't been used to a system which did use MB (if implemented badly).

He has tried it out, and I've asked him to add it at some point.

As others said, it doesn't actually make much, if any, difference to the final result, but mid-table teams deserve better.

Swiss is still shit for the mid-table, MB isn't a magic bullet to fix that.

Never use Swiss if you care about an accurate mid table. For the top 25% and bottom 25% it's generally accurate, but the middle can be all over the place.

  • As a whole podium was so easy to use and set up and works perfectly with hcbp.org. From organisation side its awesome.

with 4 teams of a higher standard then a tight mid table think top teams were always gonna get drawn up against each other after first few rounds.

Yomoyo and Commies had (what seems from the outside to be) really easy games,

Commies royaly screwed ourselves losing to a lower seed first up, then yoyomo 2nd round. 3rd game was a bit harsh draw but other than that think our draws were pretty fair.

  • Thanks very much Canterbury! Awesome Tournament, lots and lots of fun!

  • Nice one Canterbury, great fun. A perfect one day tourney.

Thanks to Luca and Josh, you guys killed it.

DT on the ping pong. Quality.

  • When will there be pictures?

  • yeah super duper day of polo. Most fun, your scene is rocking! Can't wait to see what it will be like in a year from now! Well done to the teabagers!

  • Perfect 1 day tournament Canterbury ! Loved the games room, the heckling/viewing platform & the chilled out feel to the whole day! good work guys and congratulations to the bandsaggers......bringing us tomorrows trends today apparently!

  • Mb wouldn't have changed our games (or at least not changed our position, might have changed the position of others) what would have been different is we wouldn't have been able to leapfrog to second by scoring lots of goals in the last game(which we didn't quite manage)

The thing to remember about Swiss (with whatever tie break) is that it's first job is always to test the top team and there was always a team above us that the top team hadn't played...

Do we have a thread about tourney systems? Because I don't think this takes away from my favourite tourney so far.

There is one on LOBP, we could start one here if we want, but I think LOBP is probably the place for that sort of thing (more format geeks).

  • Yes, thanks Canterbury. That was a lot of fun.

Thanks as well to Spring Break for the coaching and Jess for really holding it together for us.

And despite the Heskey jibe, Brighton Chris was my MVP. Keeps getting better and better - probably in response to the high standards of Mondays at south.

Only sorry I missed Louis on fire. Maybe next year.

  • Louis on fire was one of the best things about CCCPO2012.

  • Brilliant tourney Canterbury. Very well run. Looking forward to next year already

  • I'm willing to look into doing a Louis on fire event for the London open if there's enough cash to pay for some clothes, tarp and kerosene?

  • Sounds expensive Louis. It looked like you were wearing couture.

  • Could you play on fire?

  • shhhh!

  • christ... it's still making me giggle to myself quite a bit.

  • Wish we'd stayed now!

  • linky no worky
