  • My attempt to old-frame-modern-groupset thing (actually, bike belongs to my fiancee).
Frame is old Rychtarski, repainted by Rychtarski himself, fork is also new and made by him.

  • ^^ Everything wrong

  • Whopper!

  • I agree, just fell short when seeking approval from the treasurer, so that will be the next mods. I'm considering a factory 5 stem so I can go for a more compact, wider bar and get my position a little more dialed. I might go for a carbon seatpost also. It's funny, out of two mates, one loves the all black look, the other almost cried when he saw it!

  • I like that fade Shl

  • My old Raleigh

  • It seems like you accidentally forgot to post pictures of the bike with the modern groupset.

  • I did a half a groupset upgrade on the 1st pic got some 9 speed sdi sfiters and a 9 speed cassette.

  • Damn, that's cool.

  • Nice

  • I'm thinking of giving the old modern thing a go with an old 531c Orbit frame in my loft and a currently unused Sram 10spd groupset I have. Thing is the frame is 126mm rear spaced, I'd thought of springing the rear triangle outwards 2mm each side but have been advised by someone that the chain will spoil on the bottom inside of the ds seatstay when in smallest cog as the said tube hasn't been crimped as later 130mm frames apparently were. Does anyone have experience of 10spd in a 126mm rear frame? is this an issue or are there any other considerations I should be thinking about?

  • Its no problem done it on 2 bikes already

  • I have an 11 speed 130mm Campag wheel on my 126mm spaces Daccordi. No crimping. No issues.

  • @billygoat28 @mashton thanks, that'll be the 2018 project then.

Out of interest were any specific techniques employed to spread the rear triangle or just pull them apart and stick the wheel?

  • I just pull them apart and stuck the rear wheel in over time the frame just stayed apart .no issues removing wheel .the frames i did these too were both Reynolds 531 .good luck with your neo retro project at313.

  • I recently tried doing the cold setting techniques on a old Peugeot with gas pipe tubing and it would not set pulling out all the way to 136mm and it just kept springing back to where it was before .i gave up and left the rear wheel in place :( did a single speed conversion on the cheap
    Daughters bike.
