MGOOF : Modern groupset on old frame

I do indeed. It's not really a 'modern' build though. Shifters and mechs are from the late 70s. Hubs are ancient, but built onto modern tubeless rims.

Love the Merckx but above all the Olmo. Great collection indeed.

I´m awaiting the arrival of this 1995 Klein Quantum Pro frameset. Ultegra 11 speed waiting for it in the spares. After a couple of years on a modern bike (Trek Émonda - which rides fantastic tbh), I´m returning to MGOOF.

Did Trek buy out Klein in the 90s.

Not sure yet. I have a set of Shimano RS81, Fulcrum Red and Campi Shamal Ultra.

Yes. Somewhere around 1995. This one is from after the buyout by Trek but before Trek took over completely (think in early 2000´s production moved to the Trek Factory). For me this one is still a real Klein (built by the same people, the same philosophy). Later Klein bikes weren´t Kleins any more but Treks with another decal on it.

Come on mate, that deserves top tier!

I´ll tell my boss I deserve top tier and depending on his reaction I´ll upgrade to DA (or stay with Ultegra). Guess the latter will be the case.

Something like this would be very nice built up with new parts. This is a bike I almost bought before winning something else on eBay.

Yes, really nice build. Love the colour too. Think this one is a post 2000 frame.
