It'd be fine, BB7 caliper on the front, TRP on the back, job done.

Different level pull? have you forgetting about your experience with SRAM levers?
-
• #354
I just wonder if for audax you'd be further complicated matters by running 2 braking systems.
-
• #355
Ed- I'm sure it can be done. Howard has achieved it.
That said, I'd get a Hayes cable disc brake these days based on Sam's experience of them.
Spencey- it'd be fine. Both are cable, no interdependencies that need to be resolved.

I concur, liking those Hayes CX-5.

disc on the front but not the back? Proceed stright to anti; do not pass Go, do not collect £200...

On this? Silver hammered mudguards?!
(Unless they come in black and I didn't know).
.Obv not, and the hammered ones are grim anyway.
They're alu so you can get them anodised...maybe even red ;)

The 37mm one will be slightly lighter than the 45mm and come in smooth, anodised sound awesome.

Boom!
I'm quite happy with the chain personally.
But I think 6pt was right about the seatpost clamp, it's too busy. Practically it's also far too high for the clamp, so it needs changing anyway.

very nice pete.

chain works well.

That chain :/

^^^ Thanks!
chain works well.

Nice! I'm liking the colour scheme!
That must be light as a feather?
Not a huge fan of the bar tape transition though, but hey as long as it feels good

• #366
Love it, deffo need to get me some force or red cranks, rival are so dull in comparison

Boom!
The prosecution rests m'lud.

Nice build. Gilles Berthoud makes crabon mudguards if you don't want to put chromoplastics.

Thanks, I'll have a look.
So away from looks, it's a lot of fun to ride. Feels very fast (it seems to fly up hills) but still comfy. I reckon it will be well suited to its intended use.
The front brake does actually work at the moment, the problem is it looks like this on one side:
So if I get tempted to take it for a proper ride I will start wearing the blocks away and eventually start attacking the tyres if I keep going.
It's frustrating because it can stop on a penny, smallfurry was right about those brakes!
So, things left do do:
- look into new forks
- fit a new seatpost collar
- eventually get the steerer cut down
- fit a new front mech clamp (the current one doesn't play very well with the 2013 Red mech)
- fit mudguards.
Think that's it :)
- look into new forks

That must be light as a feather?
About 7.5kg, by far the lightest bike I've ever ridden. The acceleration is (to me) bonkers. I do a mini wheelie if I start out fast in the lowest gear, and I'm crap at wheelies!

The bike looks like we have to knock London Lights on the head and do a century on Saturday.
-
• #373
^^ You're obsessed man!
I won't have new forks by Saturday, I doubt. Ludwig did you buy these forks from Joel?
https://www.lfgss.com/thread77793.htmlHaving looked around they seem to be top of my list as they have 'maximum clearance for short reach brakes'.
It would be good to check they actually work...
The reach of the TRP's is 39-49mm, apparently.
-
• #374
I think I did.
-
• #375
Yeah I would have done this myself (with cheaper brakes mind)
Any reason against this? Likely to brake at the worst moment in the future?
Good thinking, that'll give me a chance to complete mine before Fox.
