Doh, so it seems. He's won a TdF stage and the Tour d'Avenir before now.
In my defence, those were his words, not mine, and I've never heard of the fella. No tour stage before now, someone's just updated it mad quickly.

Such a great image of him, obviously almost broken, just looking behind him and seeing the raging pack behind and finding a little bit more to take him over the line. Great stuff.
Indeed. It was a classic shot, the peloton bearing down upon him like rabid dogs while he glanced behind. Superb.
His interview was lovely as well, delighted for the guy.

Bloody wikipedia
I remember when Charl Schwartzel was about to win the Masters in 2011, I'm not really a fan of golf but I had been watching it for a couple of hours and was hooked. As he was about to play the winning putt, I went on to Wikipedia to read more about him, and in the 'Professional Wins' section someone had written 'CALM DOWN EVERYONE, HE HASN'T WON lT YET!'
Some Wikipediers are there with their fingers poised every time something happens in sport.

Can someone please teach the French about dog leads!
Corsica is reknown for it's free roving cows and pigs,
so we did put an effort in to avoid any on that roads. As you are now all training for hills to do some touring there,
please don't call anybody French there ;) -

Remember Marc Madiot losing his shit through the car window last year
? Fucking epic. -

Ok someone please teach the Corsicans (and the French when it gets back to French soil) about dog leads. Every year dogs cause mayhem. Don't think nationality is important here, dogs not possibly causing injuries is.

I thought Tony Martin was famous for only ever riding clinchers?

Tony, I am disappoint.
He seems to like them in TT's, but I don't think he rides them otherwise.

...and thus drøn became a World Champion.
The best bit about Bakelant's interview was him basically admitting he can afford to take it easy from now on. No more pressure, no expectations, no nerves, just enjoying the rest of the Tour knowing that he has claimed an unexpected stage win. And fair play to him.
That feeling as he rounded the last couple of corners, knowing it's just ahead but thinking he could still be caught...it felt fucking great in the C Category in the track league, with thousands of fans lining the streets and in the Tour de France it must have been amazing.

That was a lovely end to what seems to have been a great stage. It's always good when things get less than predictable and when favourites are foiled fairly and squarely.
