ITV is for folk who don't have Eurosport, fucking simple really.

^ nice!
On sprinting, from L'Equipe - in English:
'There are no gentlemen’s agreements in the final kilometre. It’s like a giant fist thudding down onto the road. The men are no longer riders, they are devils, all driven on by the same goal: to win' Erik Zabel, gave me goosebumps. Love a mass sprint

This.
I used to pay for Eurosport for the Tour but once it moved to ITV (and after always struggling to get a decent feed from Eurosport player), I stopped. Having said that, I often have both streaming (Eurosport from a CF link) and swap back and forth based on ads (leaving the ITV video stream open on my second screen).

12:40 today is the best time to discover that I can't switch channels to ITV4 because there is not a single triple A battery in the house for which to operate the remote for the stupid, buttonless freeview box. Ffffffuuuu

Laptop/tablet/phone?

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. You had one job!

open the back and roll the batteries a few times....
-
• #434
no, i mean, there weren't any batteries in it, or indeed anywhere else.
It's cool, I got this, though, I'm doing a dual-laptop setup like a bond villain and it is now Come On Tim o'clock

So who is the commentator on Eurosport? It's not David Harmon.
-
• #436
Hey Jimmy knows cycling!
open the back and roll the batteries a few times....
Jimmy knows everything.

Carlton Kirby

I wanted to tweet and ask, but I'll do so here...
Eurosport commentator was mentioning that France has severe pollen warnings, and I know that in the UK that stuff like Benadryl is banned in competitive cycling.
So the simple question: WTF do those who suffer allergies and hayfever do?
Is it just a case of trying to open the sinuses with tons of Olbas before the race? But how do they cope overnight, etc?

Alongside Stephen Roche.
-
• #440
Well today there only seems to be one guy alongside Sean Kelly (who sounds as monotone and sleepy as ever), I guess that's Carlton.
-
• #441
So who is the commentator on Eurosport? It's not David Harmon.
Harmon is suffering from depression, unfortunately.
-
• #442
As for hay fever, if Contador has a stinker then he'll blame it on 'allergies'. Nothing to do with his long term trainer being given a life time ban by USADA at all. No, sir.
-
• #443
And I hope Quintana makes Valverde look like the washed up cheat he is.
-
• #444
Yeah Contador blamed his appalling ITT in the Dauphine on allergies. Don't have hayfever but am allergic to cats, can't imagine trying to ride while having a bad attack.
Quintana is a handy bet, has a powerful Movistar squad with him

Jerome Cousin's setup looks really odd - the transition from bar to hood is anything but flat, with the STIs rotated really forward on the bars.
Received wisdom suggests that this is not the best way to do this.
So what's the deal here then?

The cat would probably get tangled in your transmission in any case. -

Just got eurosport going for the commentary and ITV4 for the stream. Glad that it is not the same guy who was doing the Giro commentary.
Sean Kelly's thick Waterford accent still cracks me up.

• #448
yeah it was my bad for swerving towards the furry, rhinitus-causing little shit
-
• #449
This is fucking boring.
Sprinters stages are crap.Rolling stages or mountains. Or Mountain Time trials for the ultimate stage.

I believe with a doctors note you're allowed certain things.
What a fantastically elitist statement. Typical roadie dick nonsense.
I prefer Eurosport to ITV, but I think ITV do a good job of hitting the middle of the road, the commentary may be obvious at times, but it's hardly offensive. It's certainly a load better than any of the cycling 'coverage' the BBC supply (once every four years).
That said, if you like cycling and want to watch the Tour, then it might be worth paying the 4 quid for this month to watch Eurosport player.
