"...One minute Froome is descending quickly but at a safe speed, next minute he learns it is not a safe speed if you are following Contador who turns out not to be as good a descender as he and Froome thought he was."
Get real... Contador is an excellent descender by anyone's standard, probably better than Froome. Contador was pushing it and so was Froome by trying to follow... Shit happens!
"I would have thought that if you crash and hamper someone else then the least you can do is your share of the chase to regain your respective positions, not freeload off someone that wouldn't even be there to freeeload off if you hadn't taken them out."
Exactly... "Would have thought" being key, as now you know better. Besides, the situation you describe isn't in fact what happened.

First let's be clear - there is a difference between a bad tackle which is on a scale of good tackle / mistimed tackle / bad tackle / very dangerous tackle, and diving and taking drugs which is just outright cheating.
Saying that, Dicks... very good defender. Amazing left foot / penalty taker. Complete nutter. Reckless. Dangerous. Much more concerned about himself than his team. When he used his physicality to gain a psychological advantage over the opposition - great; when he risked his status on the pitch and the career of an opposition player - not great (unless it was a player who played for a team that are more despicable than cheating is, of course).

So basically, you like dicks?
I notice that froome asked contador to help get them back from the comfort of porte's wheel.

That is like saying "Suarez is still an incredible footballer and I for one love watching him play". Fair enough, maybe I just have higher ethical standards than you, but when I see Suarez play my over-riding feeling is "I wish that filthy, dirty, racist cheat would fuck off out of my sight once and for all" and that feeling over-rides any pleasure I might get watching him play if he wasn't filthy, dirty, racist cheat.
Bet you're fun at parties

"Sorry, I was fucking stupid to think that at convicted doper would have any morals - stupid fucking assumption.
I would like to think that Wiggins (for example) would regard doing his fair share of the work to catch up the peloton after taking a rival out, just like he thought it was the right thing to do to slow the peleton rather than exploit his rivals misfortune."
Easy now. You were asking a question regarding peloton etiquette. Several people has answered you... In any event the situation you describe isn't what happened and has nothing or very little to do with peloton etiquette anyway.
If you don't like racing, don't blame me.

I will shut up after this one post so long as others don't keep replying to me...
... I really really really do not mind if people think I am pompous, boring, whatever... I believe that people have a moral obligation to call out immoral behaviour and those who support immoral behaviour.** If you have lower ethical standards than me then fair enough**.
But you're not above a bit of old fashioned condescension, are you?

My thoughts too.
And it's not like Contador ended up on his arse deliberately. Maybe Froome should not have bothered saying anything.

lots of sandy vaginas this morning.
Excerpt from yesterday's Times article by Owen Slot.
Froome, though, was not impressed, accusing Contador of “dangerous” riding and saying: “Everyone knows it’s a dangerous descent. I didn’t think the guys were going to take unnecessary risks.”
The question, therefore, put to him afterwards was: Why, then, did you follow him? Sarcastically, Froome replied: “I should probably have let him go up the road and get the yellow jersey.”
But the questioner was right. Froome should have let him go; he has a cushion of 4min 25sec and Contador might have gained half a minute.
I think there may have been a touch of panic on Froomes part. he has the time advantage in the bank and could have afforded to lose a few seconds on an occasion like this.
He only needs to get to Paris 1 second ahead of whoever he beats.
