3 new prototypes arrived at Magic HQ today.
- The Mosquito (middle)
- The Super Scoop (right)
- The Goblin (left)
The Mosquito is 130mm long, 65mm wide and has a smaller OD in the middle with angled edges.
The Super Scoop is 100mm long 65mm wide and has a super scoopy ID.
The Goblin is 120mm long and is a bit different. It has a 65mm open end, which tapers to a 60mm capped end from the middle of the mallet head. Trying to bring the best of both worlds from our Warlock and Black Magic heads.
We have a limited amount if anyone wants to try one out!
available on the shop: www.magicbikepolo.com
They all come pre drilled with 6 x 5mm pilot holes

If you want to see if they stand up to the harsh northern conditions I'd gladly give the mosquito or goblin a test. Can pass them round a little too if you want a few opinions.
-
• #431
Aaah, they're for buying, I'd like to but am mighty poor right now. They look interesting though, especially that goblin.

Why are these £25? made from more expensive material? much time put into R&D? take much longer to lathe the outer?
-
• #433
Economies of scale.
-
• #434
init. probably a bit of all them, same material but more of it on lager diameter. £20 doesn't sound bad, but cant imagine spending a ton on 4 bits of plastic though.
-
• #435
They're a little more expensive as we were ordering smaller quantities.
If we decide to put them into production the price would come down.
Also at the end of the day; it may be a bit of plastic, but its a very specific type of plastic that's been custom machined in the UK.
Our complete mallet price will stay the same with any of the new heads.

Made in the UK!

Cool i wanna try all 3s
-
• #438
they look fab. And green is my favorite head color still.

What's the thinking behind the Mosquito head? It looks interesting but I'm not sure what the benefit of the slimmer middle is!
-
• #440
I guess the idea is easier dribbling, in reality not sure how much difference it makes.
-
• #441
I love the colour... and need a new mallet... is there any chance I could try each of them before buying?

Mosquito is similar to the Norther Standard Hourglass and Modified Arc heads and are designed for better ball control, haven't seen many in Europe though.
Have you been able to test them yourself Max? Or is this very first run?
-
• #443
Maybe a touch lighter too.

Yeah, what Fin said. It's more popular in North America, especially Canada. Mosquito wanted it as their signature head.
Ball control is one of the reasons behind the design.

This is the very first run.

Yeah this is the very first run. Just built a goblin up for myself.
I've been thinking through the Goblin for a while but this is the first time we've made one. I'm excited to see how it plays, there's nothing like it out there.
So hard to photograph the taper, its so slight. The mosquito is our take on the NS/modifide style of head, after requests from customers to make something of the same ilk. Its got a wider diameter and is far more angular than its counterparts.

Loving the look of these! Can't wait to see them on court.

How much have peeps been cutting off the pointy ends of their magic purple shafts so the supplied nut and bolt works nicely?
-
• #448
Black:11.5cm
Purple:12.5cmBut they may vary, best to put the nut in first, and measure from there
