I listened to an audio recording!.....A former girlfriend was given it by someone at the BBC.....The voices sounded like Merton and Saville but it could have been a fake...but if it were it was a very good one.
That pretty much puts you in a select club of three with your former girlfriend and the someone at the BBC then.

By all means dear chap...nothing wrong with being a sceptic.....all i know is what i heard.....but note this....i have no axe to grind with Saville.....and it is equally possible that Saville [lets assume the vent happened]....'agreed' with Merton to wind him up....possible?.......Saville was never charged with any offences against minors....so might not be fake but as you allude but perhaps wrongly.....it is all about context....so in a court of law....probably not guilty...though perhaps in Scotland.....Not proven...your witness!
