Lost a bit of bark today - pothole jumped up and bit my front wheel, nothing broken although I haven't looked at my bike yet.

For the record only. Got knocked off my fixed gear by an 80 year old on a motor scooter in Regent's Park on Sunday afternoon. For some reason he thought to overtake me on the inside after I had indicated, moved to the center of the road and commenced a right turn from the Outer Circle into Chester Road which leads to the Inner Circle on the eastern side of the park. Buckled my rear wheel, demolished my saddle, pedal, shredded my shorts and shoes, plus lost bark on my hip, buttock, knuckles and arm.
The cops happened to arrive within seconds, but then I stood around bleeding for the better part of an hour while they undertook their incident investigation. When they established that my bike wasn't rideable and I would need a taxi one of them thoughtfully gave me an empty evidence bag to sit on so I wouldn't bleed on a cabbie's seat (!). Thanks also to rubbernecking smug roadie douchebags watching with interest for lap after lap. To be fair, if I was on my mamil chariot that would be me. No point stopping to offer help with four cops already there.
Based on a chat with the motorists insurer they may not contest fault so perhaps payment for the damage and bandages will follow shortly. Hope springs external

I was knocked off in Feb -worried that I was hurt I called police and ambulance - the guy who knocked me off in his BMW didn't. The police arrived - and after an hour and no ambulance the police took me to Whittington in the cop car - bike in the back with policeman 1 and me in the front with policeman 2! Even bought me a coffee....top guys. But no chance of an ambulance. Their words not mine.

Fair enough, and damn, you've been through the mill!

I've suspected that if you get up and limp on to the pavement you are less likely to get the help you need from the person who decked you, official channels and willing strangers; I reckon it's best not to get up and off the road unless you are in obvious and immediate danger.

Left my house on Friday afternoon in a blaze of sunshine. 15 minutes later the heavy rain started and as I approached Trafalgar Square roundabout, my wheels slipped out from underneath me and I landed directly on my hip. Couldn't support my own weight so went to UCLH for assessment. X-Ray and CT scan revealed: Fractured Femur. Had an operation this evening. Two bolts and a metal plate. Typing this from my hospital bed.

What looked like a really bad accident on Camberwell New Road (junction with Wyndham Road) this morning. Two ambulances and police cars when I went by around 11. Hope the rider is OK.

It's a horrible stretch of road that is meant to be a cycle highway from New Cross to Vauxhall.

Join the growing band of bionic bikers! Get photos of your x-rays to show off to friends at the bar. I has something similar - I was riding again in 5 months - seems like a long time but actually it went quickly. So - enjoy the time out of the saddle and make sure you follow all advice from medics etc. Your cycling fitness pre-accident will pay massive dividends in recovery. Cheers.

Partner slipped on that mud that collects at edge of cobbles, lost front wheel and hit deck. She's ok but our daughter on Yepp mini up front has big chin cut and a broken tooth. They're now at A&E awaiting news from a face-cut expert.

Big up Woman at house nearby who drove them both to the hospital.

Heal up soon to your little one. They are resilient - my son fell off a see-saw when he was about 3, split open the underneath of his chin quite dramatically. Was all good within a few weeks.

Hope your partner is ok and not too traumatised and that your child makes a swift recovery.
