Thanks Eamsey, that was what he was talking about but I guess we'll decide on all that on the day..
^^ what I was thinking...
Now I'm on a mission to track down a set of Open Pros Ceramic in black.. NOS preferably. Gonna be a mission and expensive I think! Coupled to low flange black Phils. Silver or black spokes? Can't decide..££££££££££££££££!
black spokes please

Mudguard eyelets?
Have people gone mad?

Come annn! Function over fashion ;)

What does the title say?
-
• #32
The description says:
so it could be used in the hilly lands of Scotland and also in it's well documented rainy weather
If it was to be used solely on the tarck I'd agree, although in retrospect the geo of this frame may prevent the use of decent mudguards anyway, so less aesthetically pleasing SKS etc are probably on the cards if you wana keep your arse dry and headset bearings happy!

So not a track bike as the title indicates?
-
• #34
Whilst it says that, the impression I got was that it is going to be for all intents a fixed road bike used for road riding/commuting but with track geo, rather than just on the track
although ready to be proved wrong if OP wants to use it exclusively on le track

As Vesalius says.. Track geo (unless he convinces me to go Eamsey style geo) but which can be run as a SS if necessary.. Hopefully it'll visit the track a few times aswell..
Going to start putting together a portfolio kinda thing with all the design aspects and bits and bobs I'm looking for on the build.
Dibs'ed a pair of Mavic Open Pro Ceramics already, dangerous stuff buying bits for a bike which isn't finished yet ;)! -

After seeing these seatstays/seatbolt cluster and rear aero bridge I may have to forget about the wishbone!! Awesome!
I now have some dark grey mavic ceramics, thanks dmczone :) hub time! -

Right I'm writing up a detailed list/portfolio thingy with all the things the bike needs/wants. Suggestions on these things appreciated:
-rear brake routing. Internal or external? Any benefits or just aesthetic? Rossssss's Nag is external and it doesn't detract attention from the frame.. Can't decide though.
-phils or custom made matt black mack hubs w a pink stripe. High or low flange?
-cranks: prob 75s or omniums? Thinking of 75s atm..
-stay classic with a 1" steerer or go 1 1/8"? Overall it probably depends on the other tubing to make sure it suits overall.
So far that's it folks. Dilemmas non stop ;)! -

I'd go for internal. does look good and clean (aero benefits?)-phils or custom made matt black mack hubs w a pink stripe. High or low flange?
low flange if you're gonna have low profile rims. tends to look a bit odd otherwise IMO-cranks: prob 75s or omniums? Thinking of 75s atm..
Good choice. Omniums would look too slave?-stay classic with a 1" steerer or go 1 1/8"? Overall it probably depends on the other tubing to make sure it suits overall.
Like you said, aesthetics matter. Fat heattube on thin tubes may look odd. You could shim the 1" of course, but you're looking at A-head stems no?IMO, IMO, IMHO!!!

Yeah I agree with your thoughts aswell. Thinking macks as they're lighter than phils, cheaper and can also get a custom colour scheme. Just remembered I've got a set of fsa carbon cranks at home so could also be a potential. May go w a 1" as they seem to suit those frame better.. I do like aheads though! Cheers buddy

If youre looking at macks consider gromada hubs. I'm getting 2 pairs atm. Apparently theyre made by the same people and are just differently branded, and cheaper. Search mack hubs on here and theres a good thread with a few people whove bought macks and had long wait times, but good opinions.
Oh and gromada hubs are on sale atm so its an even better deal.

SS with track geometry down Scottish hills might mean some shit in your pants no?

...Everything Apolloxl said.
I'd go ahead. As its custom you can think of something clever to make it suit the build.
I think the r i t che y stems have a nice sleek look to them.
Also I think you should sort of future proof the design/style for carbon forks, as you may want them in the future.
Steamrollers are 1 1/8" and they're no overly chunky looking.

Thanks for all the input folks.
BnD: emailed Royce to see if they'll sort me out w a set of black hubs.. Totally forgot to include them in my list, could well be an option albeit pricey (also nice that they're from the UK like the old frame will be)...
Miro: it could well be ;) May have a word w Chas and see if he thinks it's worth slacking things up a minutia to have something like Eamsey's geo. I have rode hills a few times up in the homeland on a track bike and it wasn't too bad tbh..
Hugo: that's my thinking with the forks aswell. Always good to have an easily replaceable size. Shall see what he recommends and how it'll all look overall but I do agree w you.My list is slowly coming together and shall be posted in next few days :)

SS will let you descend a lot quicker than fixed so there are issues with stability when you're really flying. Like you say Roberts really know their stuff so you'll get great advice.

Ah, didn't realise/think of that. Cheers for that shout then, shall definitely bring that up with him. Appreciated..
