Well i've picked up a shimano 105 part groupy off a forum member to go in my garage, and i have a 105 back wheel with black rim (looks very similar to the current wheelset just with cassette) in the garage too
all that it needs is another long drop brake and to install all the bits, going to stick with fixed for a while longer i think because im enjoying it, will install all the geared stuff later/toward the end of, summer

-
• #55
Yes, cause it's lovely as it is now..

good point... i really need to get new bars on there, risers fail
*just look fail on this build i quite like risers otherwise, maybe silver ones with a higher rise would look better, not sure

So geared parts are coming along nicely
130mm, 105 9 speed hub, mavic open pro rim rear wheel
105 9speed brifters black
105 9speed rear derailleur black
Ergo drop bars silverI have an ultegra 31.8 front derailleur in silver but i either need to shim it, or get a black one that fits properly, thinking of the latter, or getting a silver rear derailleur, don't fancy mismatching derailleur colours.
Looking at getting a new seatpost and getting rid of the aero as I don't think it works
Need to get a front wheel, new brake callipers. Got chainrings in the post but they haven't arrived after over a week...

Figured out the problem in any question answered,
the plastic cup was split and glued back together and won't screw in any further than that,
the plastic side isn't supposed to be greased is it? theres no grease on the plastic sideAdmiring this build! Make do and mend. I'm too lazy/wealthy to be gluing bits together, but good on you.

If you repaint this orange you deserve a slap, just my opinion ;)

Plus you outbid me on this, don't fark it up now. Get it geared, with drops and don't skid it around the skate park for god sake. p.s. if you ever do want to part with it let me know!

Don't worry I was having a moment of madness
All the gear stuff is here now, I just need to get everything on my new fixed project, then I'll sort out the gears on this,
Need to find some money to take it into a LBS to get the brifters all cabled up to the derailleurs as its not something i fancy

Change of plan.
Its getting a full sram rival group, and possibly the brakes, need to decide if i go for ugly drop plates (if i can find someone with the ability to make them/help me/lend me tools) or stick with the deep drop ones..
The deep drops will look a bit out of place with the full black group though.
Also trying to decide, silver or black seatpost? also thinking about black road bars.. but then id have a silver quill, which might look out of place..
or black group, and stick to silver bars, silver quill and silver seatpost should look alright, then the brakes might look ok too..

Why don't you look for some 27" wheels? They'd fill in the gaps a little better and give you a shorter drop for your brakes.
Not sure about a black groupset on that frame really, but I'll wait to be proved wrong...

You can get black deep drop brakes. I'd stick with deep drop rather than short drop with drop bolts - gives you much bigger tyre and mudguard clearance.

Just sat staring at the above picture and i think im going to leave the silver etc bits in, and the black groupset should be too overpowering.
The brakes will be silver, the front derailleur cage is silver, the chainrings are silver and the cassette is silver so it shouldnt be too overpowering..

Might just stick with these then, see how it looks, in my head described as above ^ it looks awesome..
i hope.
