  • Has anyone put 650b on a CAAD10/12 yet?

  • What happened to Saeco scheme?

  • Won't fit a 10.

  • My understanding is that the shape of the chainstays make it difficult.

  • yea theres like same or even less clearance for tyre at the distance of 650b vs 700c from rear axle

  • That's a massive amount of room dude, plenty.

  • My understanding is that the shape of the chainstays make it difficult.

We only had the CAAD12 rim brake model in and the chainstays isn't too bad on that actually, need to look at the CAAD12 disc tho.

    edit - found photo, not enough to warrant changing wheels, if it's less than 8mm difference, (says from 700c 30mm to 650b 38mm), then it's not really worthwhile;

Will try it once we get the disc version in our shop and I'll fit my 650b disc wheel in it.

  • I do enjoy your effort of bike hacking.

  • quite interesting how the nds chainstay is asymmetrical. havent noticed that from my frame as it is black

caads are interesting frames to observe as they are most likely the pinnacle of alu road frame design

  • Cannot unsee minuscule seatpost

  • I think it works quite well with the skinny forks.

  • Nope. Check Saint Cloud's IG

  • seatpost looks so odd with that saddle

    Shit Cannondale owners say 8-)

  • :-D

  • Possibly why I like Cannondales - I would have said that Klein was the leader in aluminium (by some margin) back in their day, but now it's likely Cannondale, although I imagine that Specialised would have something to say about that of course....

  • Positioning themselves as innovators init

Never really understood what Specialized stand for. I suspect Cannondale are just better at positioning, or place more emphasis on it, rather than bike tech.

  • but they do actually have ride quality and low weight to back up the marketing hype

  • Yes - my point is that I doubt there's much between the big S and 'Dale in terms of tech, both being leaders in certain areas. 'Dale place more emphasis on talking about it.

  • And do support that position with things like their own crank, system integration etc, creating a BB standard and then releasing it to the world to (badly) implement and so forth.

  • This is true, but Specialized could talk just as credibly if they saw it as integral to their success - they have their own crank - ironically based on BB30 and the lightening crank - and they have a shock technology (brain) etc.

  • I agree on the Brain side of things, the crank is third party that's been re-badged.

  • New crabon bars on = new tape (never buying Deda again) and got sick of waiting for purchased tools to arrive so ended up getting bike shop to switch spider, which was only £20 in the end. Got a wedding up north this weekend and have sneakily hired a van to spirit myself away for a ride at some point to evaluate the new bars and gearing...
