More 'dale photos please, less dull road wheel chatter. There's a thread for that.

That's a very good point, post your.

The CAAD7? There's a part-built photo on the previous page.

We built those Stans Alpha 340 wheels for a sub 60kg hill climber and the weight was correct. If I recall we used the MK 1 340 rim and Sapim Race on the rear drive side for strength but we've built alot of wheels since that pair. The rim is not great for strength but it fitted his requirements perfectly.

Finally got a systemsix headset cap albeit in aluminium, and chopped the steerer. Qwerty cycles were really helpful for cannondale spares if people aren't familiar with them. The bike looks half normal but will post some pics when I'm not at work.

Yeah Qwerty - nice guys, just wish it were possible to call them :) Edwardes in camberwell are also good for 'dale spares, and HalfPipe in Ladbrooke Grove have been quite helpful in the past.

Not really worth updating the project thread for a spacer and saddle swap. Things to do still: Deep carbon wheels, rotor q rings (if they can work with sram cranks) and possibly change the force parts for red. Edit maybe get some fancy keo pedals that are lighter than the easys

Why wouldn't it work with the SRAM derailleur? Chainrings is round and have the correct number of teeth, did SRAM did something to make it incompatible?
Gotta says it look the business now.

Cheers ed. It's not the derailleur, I remember reading a thread (http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=99288) on weight weenies about the Q rings not being 100% compatible with Red BB30 cranks. I quick search will probably make it clear if Rotor sorted the problem.

I'm so sorry, I misunderstood you thinking you meant a Rotor crankset rather.

That paint is awesome.

A Cannondale that painted to look like a Pegoretti?
Not sure whether to love it or dislike the idea that it feel like a fake...
-
• #216
i try not to think in that. i just compare original paint vs new paint. im much happier with the new paint
-
• #217
I decided I liked it.
You're free to go.

• #218
Is it actually yours, Erick? How did you paint it? Assume it was the BBQ black version before it got dipped?
-
• #219
yea is mine, i use acrylic paint.
its my race bike so i decided paint it in a more aggressive-crazy way... inspired in pegoretti style but the result was more similar to the warhol BMW M1.
the original paint was this

It's certainly an improvement. Cannondale's more recent colourways strike me as a bit dull compared to the glory days, especially on the road frames. Did you strip it, paint it then clearcoat it?
-
• #221
i only sandpaper a little the original finish and used it like a primer for the paint, paint all with red and then i was free to paint. to finish was laquered

I salute you - good project :)

Just bought this monstrosity pretty cheap, plan is to:
/Strip paint
/Mavic open pro's
/Sram opnomnomnoms
/Thomson finishing kit
/obligatory fsa compact barsHoping to end up with a simple but decent fixed/single training bike, not planning on this being a weenie build, but I've said that before. Wouldn't say this is any kind of inspiration but like that alu and black contrast.

Didn't realise this thread existed until recently.
Bought this frame off ebay last Feb. Wheels and Ultegra levers/brakes had previously been on my Giant, and I added new derailleurs, seatpost/saddle bars/stem and chainset.
Shamefully it didn't get ridden anywhere near enough last year, but I'm putting that right now and it all feels pretty solid. Would love to try it with a set of deep section wheels, but really can't justify the cost.

Looks like a good project Jambon. Is it a Capo? It's what I was going to do with the CAAD7 but then I built it into a geared trainer instead.
Like the Six above, too.
The rims are super noodly, and the CX rays are not going to help.
