So so glad I made this a "fast" bike again. My current favourite. Quite enjoying heading out after work and chasing sunlight. The link cables make a huge difference with the rear brake, still smooth! Would recommend for caad12's.

does anyone know anywhere i can buy the SI hollowgram crank removal tools for less than £25!?!?
i know it's not a massive amount, but i plan on removing my crank and replacing it with a shimano one, so spending £25 for a single use tool seems a touch excessive

If you are in west London and can make it to ealing I can remove them for you.
There's also a well known bodge with a standard crank puller and some kind of tube that overcomes the puller's lack of engagement with the threads. Personally I'd just buy the tool then flog it on eBay for the same money minus fees.

ah cheers man, but i'm in leeds....

I'll admit I have butchered the threads on a pair of SIs before trying to carefully use a normal puller so hamfisted mechanics beware
-
• #13933
yeah, i want to be able to sell the cranks afterwards, so potential butchery thereof, isn't an option

I’ve removed mine multiple times with a regular puller. There’s a YouTube video tutorial on it. As long as you engage as many threads as possible it works fine. Don’t rush it.

i've seen a guy on youtube do that... you must undersatnd, i am mr hamfist...

Not sure the £25 tool will help then, as there’s still the same risk. A shop should do it for much less than the cost of the tool.

I've removed mine a few times using al aluminium rod that I bought from ebay for £3. This slots into the spindle and presses up against the opposite nut, and then it gives something for a regular crank removal tool to press against.
