Hi all, my CAAD 2 R300 (1998) has some oxidisation under the paint at the headtube and the seat stays/chain stays that's getting worse- can anyone recommend a place that can assess, fix and re-paint it? I'm in SE London but happy to strip it and send it if needed. Thanks! Titch

My latest purchase, near nos 94 R800 with some tasteful mtb customising

Oof great find
Love the wheels with that frame

Thanks, yeah they are Matrix iso c-II, also pretty nos.
Don't recognize the cassette though, says "USA Patent" but not sure the brand...
It seems to have a KingsberryUSA finishing kit ; purple bolts, and bb and the xlite seat post, all screams custom mtb... Its a fun one but i love it !

Can’t quite put my finger on it but there’s something off about that.

does this just look like a standard optimo track frame
it's drilled front and rear which kind of answers my question a little bit, does it look like anything special apart from the paint job
-
• #13788
Looks the same as normal Capo to me
-
• #13789
I'd say it's a team CAAD 5 track with that fork, Capo had the normal Slice.

it's on sale at $399 and stated early 2000's track frame which is a little unusual, maybe they just got the date wrong, it's got hourglass rear stays which is caad4 ish
rear bridge drilled with the same shape brake mount as you'd see on their road bikesi've asked for a frame number so i can check a bit further
-
• #13791
Same thing are they not?
I've seen Capos with straight forks and the above curved ones
-
• #13792
Not sure if there's any differences in the frames, they both have the hour glass rear stays and drilled rear. I had thought my 5 was slightly tighter at the back but that was probably more likely a worn chain on the Capo. I'm pretty sure that fork is CAAD 5 track though, look at the swage line near the dropout

early 2000's track frame
CAAD 5 production time AFAIK, shouldn't of sold mine...
-
• #13794
Yeah I think 2005-2007ish.
Capo seemed to go on after that until at least 2010 so maybe the CAAD5 Track became the Capo because they'd moved on from CAAD5 in the road range -

heres what i got back from the shop, doesn't seem quite as rare as it first seemed
In regards to this Cannondale frame the Serial Number is RO3547 indicating that this frame is from 2006. Wasn't able to pin down if this frame is a CADD4 / CADD3 as it is one of their track specific frames which fall under different categorization. Thanks again for your interest and don't hesitate to reach out with further questions.
if anyone is interested $399 + shipping which they would be happy to arrange from the US

I'm both impulsive and too tall for this bike. I've since got it muddy and appreciate the lack of braking power - canti brakes conjure a reasonable amount of fear on mild terrain.

Too much winter for the winter bike today, does make for a cool pic though. Classic English person, snows once and phone out to take a picture

He's pretty tall with very long legs and the tt is definitely long enough for him, 61ctc iirc. He's been bugging me about cutting the stem down but i'm yet to get round to it.
