Does anyone have a 120mm System Six stem that they want to sell?

folks! this is more of a general frame question but i thought i'd ask here as it is a 'dale.. i have a 58cm supersix frame that had a crack on the top tube and was professionally repaired by a guy who builds boats. the repair was painted over following the factory design - if you look really closely, the thickness of the extra layers is noticeable, and you can tell the white used is a tiny bit yellowish.. any chance i can sell it? it has a few months guarantee too. could upload pics later..

You can sell it if someone will buy it.

As long as you describe it accurately, i.e. broken, frame of death, wall art only etc.

a guy who builds boats you say...

i don't know what your problem is, these chaps look like real experts to me. :D
the guy who repaired my frame makes carbon sailboat hulls/carbon kayaks

Started trying to rebuild a 97' Beast of the East
stripped the frame and found some nice parts but can't figure out where to find a cheap octalink bb to fit

What size do you need? I have a few lightly used XT/LX ones in my spares boxe(s).

Anybody want to buy my CAADX? Potential cyclocross champs out there?

That rules! So cool that you have the Maguras for it.
What length are the top tube and seat tube? It looks tiny! -

Ah all these stories of Saeco CAADs are making me really really miss riding mine.
Still have the frame in my room, if you want photographic evidence of just how thin the tubes are then I can provide... Optima alloy has the structural integrity of pre-sliced edam

When I bought my CAAD3 new in 1999, Bikepark in Covent Garden (later became CycleFit I think?) had a CAAD3 frameset on the wall that had been Gunther Von Hagens'd straight down the middle. The downtube was almost beer-can thin in places. Cannondale-trained mechanics at the time were instructed never to clamp any part of the frameset when using a workstand.

Amazing! I wanted one of those so badly as a kid, Martyn Ashton worshipping.

thanks Bear, I'm measure it up (:
I put on a square tapered one on for a test ride along with some borrowed wheels, chain and front brake that I didn't bleed very well (tried to use a chicken baster, tubing and tape=bad idea). Really happy with how it rode, easily whipped around technical trails. Will take some pics later today when I clean her up. Size wise its pretty much the same as my med 1fg in the back of the pic below (large in front fits the best at 6"2)

Morning all,
I wanted to test the water with something. I bought an EVO Hi-Mod Di2 2014 (here). I've done a about 1,500 kms on it but now due to an up coming operation on the gentleman's area, it's unlikely I'm going to be able to cycle anything as hard running as this for quite a while.
Is it worthwhile putting up on here? Would love to get about £3,500 for it.
Cheers

Well it's free to advertise so what's the worst that can happen I suppose. It would sell quicker on eBay obvs, so if you are in rush for cash then that's probably a better bet. You could try bikeradar but the lowballing goons can be quite testing.
Your other option might be to part it out. Or, have you considered putting some slightly less racy wheels on her with some nice big tyres (28mm work, just) to try to soften up the ride?

Thanks Howard. Having looked at Bikeradar I think I'll go use here instead. Suspect it would go to a better home.
As for changes, stiffness is a problem but so is the riding position. Because I'm quite stretched out on this, it's causing a lot of vibration and irritation through the perineum. I'm not sure whether my current problems have been caused by cycling but it's definitely not been making it better.
It's really disappointing as the bike is amazing, incredibly fast up to about 30kph and then very easy to keep it at that speed while cruising along, will be really sad to see it go, not to mention the financial bashing my wallet will take too!

Booger. Sorry to hear about that. It looks rad. If you haven't already tried a bike fit from the bike whisperer that might be worth considering, especially if you want to continue cycling through this period. Sounds like you've made up your mind though. Good luck!

To be fair, the bike does sound a little on the large side base on your description.
