Tyre update for summer. This thing always felt like a geared BMX, now it looks more like one.

That's one hell of a stem length!

Supposed CAAD13:
-
• #11158
That looks shit
-
• #11159
New Tarmac isnt it
-
• #11160
emonda ALR disc; still the best AL disc road frame out there
-
• #11161
A Tarmac with welds? Seems a bit retro.

Competing with Allez sprint for crit bike sales? (semi aero)
-
• #11163
For sure. Imagine the Allez sprint took a big bite out of CAAD sales in the US.
-
• #11164
Yeah that kind of platform will be nibbled from the top (cheap crabons, alu crit stuff), and from the bottom (Optimo / Topstone / CAADX like DIA bikes). People were probably wondering what the CAAD12 is actually useful for.
-
• #11165
Yeah, Caad10 used to be the goto 'don't mind crashing' bike.
Mind you, Allez Sprint frames aren't that cheap replace... -
• #11166
that gold frame has mudguard mounts no? new alu synapse?
-
• #11167
Still no thru axel. Although maybe it's a good thing because they'd probably come up with their own standard for that too.
-
• #11168
although if they've added propper guard mounts on to the CAAD replacement i'm very in
-
• #11169
It does have TA, the black background is just hiding them. Why do you check this thread when you seem to actively dislike 'dale?
-
• #11170
I like them, they just have flaws.
-
• #11171
This.
I have a caad12 disc, i bought it because my Synapse was giving me knee problems (because fit / Geo didn't play nicely), and it solved all that.
Now it's a bit of a difficult bike to fit with the other bikes i own, it's too close to my other road bikes and i can't put guards on it to make it useful for winter.

Just noticed it has triple down tube cage mounts. Isn't this usually to allow a frame bag/other bikepacking gear? Thus not likely on a CAAD?
[edit: I guess it's also useful if you run only one bottle cage in a short race and want it lower?]

Aero bottle placement?
-
• #11174
Seat tube is more aero if you're just using one bottle
-
• #11175
I read somewhere that it might be the other way round, but it might be the new gen aero bikes with tube shaping to accomodate the downtube bottle.
I prefer a lower bottle position normally if available as it suits smaller frame sizes.
You can eat that bag of dicks after @MechaMorgan has finished with them
