I was just going on advice (FAKE NEWS) given out on here over the past few years that the wavey washer should only be minimally compressed
I did a search for wave washer and wavey washer on the thread and I couldn't really find evidence of this.

I spoke to Cannondale Spares store about this as had the same as you but was told it shouldn't be flat, I put everything on as instructed and looked like more of a gap compared to before hand, ensure no play and ride..
Ridden mine now a few times since and all is good.

Ridden mine now a few times since and all is good.
Gap under the wave should be ~0.4mm (0.3-0.5), so not flat, but compressed.
