Thought I'd resurrect this thread with my 2012-13 cross rig. First time out today on the 50mm deep sections with challenge limus tubs. Looking forward to racing the shit out of it*

Bumpity bump. I know there are more Cannondales out there somewhere.

Not a Cannondale bike granted.
But a NOS Cannondale Lefty max TCP (2006?), with modern pbr damper fitted, as well as custom macined extra long clamps. Is on its way to me.
Excited :)

Looking forward to seeing the custom Lefty.
The black CAAD9 is making progress. Cranks went on yesterday - BB30 / SRM spindle had to spend the night in the freezer before they'd play ball.

Finally shrunk that 0.2mm?

Picked up my old 1fg ultra from mates house last night (minus rear wheel that got stolen). Haven't seen her all year can't wait to get out on her today for a ride if I can find another wheel...will try and get a pic up later

Yeah. Freezing it overnight did the trick. Just hope I don't have to get the fecker out...

I do this with headset cups.
Makes life so much easier with my DIY headset press.
Love this video. Its not exact analytical engineering, its just a fun demo (bloody bike nerds going mental in the comments....)

hmmm....
Looks like I can add mine.
Please refer to dammits original 'Dale to see what mine should look like.

It's interesting that they've now switched to a bushing design. Wonder how they got over the stiction problem?

Thats an old video, pressumably with the roller bearings. AFAIK thats what allows them to work equally well while under turning and leaning stresses. Not sure how they've gotten around this with bushings.
Mine will have the roller bearings, and a modern damper. Its probably going to be delivered with a standard 29er conversion limit, leaving 100m of travel. My short headtube, and the nature of the clamps, should mean I can pull the whole strut 10mm further down, snap out 10mm of limiter, and net 110mm of travel. This will slacken my HTA by 0.5deg. Which on paper is a good thing when compared to how I'd use the bike with a rigid fork fitted. I'll have a 1.5" headtube so I can allways fit a angleset headset, and change this back.
So a very flexible set up. Cuz I'm scared of feck things up I guess.

that video .... rubbish
cannondale product being marketed by cannondale people with cannondale in the background on the tvhmmm do you think they'll make the cannondale product look good or the opposition ? how those forks stick is beyond me ? and he puts less pressure on the wheels when doing the " flex " test
not convinced !

Only bikes and wheelbarrows use forks these days Dicki

The comments still annoy me though. Its like watching an ad for cornflakes, and getting annoyed because they said cornflakes taste best.
The Lefty is renowned for stiffness, and for this helping it preform under stress. So the vid demonstrates this and this only. I dont think its a lie. Just a carefully selected protion of the truth.
No mention of the damping performance vs a Fox, or the rebuildability vs a Rockshox. etc.

it's like those carpet cleaners you see " marketed " on those sales channels QVC and the like
they show you a strip of badly stained carpet that their " innovative " new clener just races through and makes look as good as new
i'd like to take along the bit of carpet I do my bike maintainence on
see how their p[roduct gets on with that

AFAIK the strut has a square section and a round section; they will still use needle bearings but the unit will be sealed with a bushing. Means they won't need a shock boot to keep out the gunk at, I assume, the cost of a bit more stiction.
I really want one for my F5.

Gotcha.
TBH I was reading this, this very morning. But mainly just looking at the pretty bikes.http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/03/12/spy-shot-new-lefty-suspension-fork-in-testing-more/
You can see the lefty has a guard instead of the usual boot. Much like a Maverick fork of yonder.

Do they make a Scalpel 29er?
CAAD10 ftw!
